Seems like recently there has been a high number of accidents so bad to shut the entire interstate down. People are just driving too d*** fast and being too careless.

Most tractor trailer accidents are due to reckless driving. However, recent reports said that the tires blew out which caused the accident.

My sympathies to the family of the truck driver that was killed in this accident.

My husband is a truck driver. He and most other truck drivers are very careful. They need the job and know they have to work hard to keep safe. There are some truck drivers, just like there are others in regular vehicles, who are reckless and stupid. When you realize the number of trucks on the road compared to the number of accidents, the ratio is actually pretty low. People who judge all by the example of a few are foolish. To the family of the man who was the victim of this accident, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Tiffany-

I am very for your loss, my family was heading back from Fredericksburg (We live in Caroline County)right after the accident occurred, we could see the smoke 12 miles away; we heard right at the moment for the cause of the accident, immediately we began to pray for the people/person in the accident, your father. I just felt compelled to leave a comment and tell you that I am VERY, very, sorry for your loss... For whatever reason, this accident weighed really heavily on my mind, perhaps its because I saw the scene and the tens of emergency vehicles, it hit me hard.

With that being said, ignore the ignorance; some people have nothing better to do, but I can promise you this... If it were their father involved in the accident they wouldn't be saying the things they are.

May your father's soul rest peacefully in heaven and may your family stay strong through this hard time. Grieve as you need and know that there are MANY people out there thinking of you and your family!

God Bless!

My first thought when I started reading this was "please say the driver is okay". Then I saw that he wasn't. My father was a truck driver, as were most of my uncles and several cousins. They had some bad accidents, mostly due to those tires, but all survived - thankfully. My sincerest condolences to the family, who have suffered a great loss. To those of you who put it down to careless driving, I can tell you that most of the time when that is the case, the careless driver is in a car and not that truck.

To the family - Tara was right... you have no idea how many people out here are thinking of you and your family. Hold your memories close.

May this trucker rest in peace. Its a shame that one blown tire can cause a fatality. Something must be done to make these tires safer, especially making re-treading illegal. Was the blown tire a re-treaded tire? Where is the highway saftey board on this issue?
