I thought they had searched those woods. Must not have been looking to closely. Good news, though, that they are both safe and well.

I'm glad these young people were found safe and unharmed; stories like this often have tragic endings.
It seems like the story isn't complete. What happened between 10/9 when they went missing and 10/15/09 when they were found? The Penn Forest area area is pretty remote. Hopefully FMZ does a follow-up story to better tell the story.

Ok I have multiple sclerosis,so I guess I should run away and abandon my husband and children also.Does this teen not understand the heartbreak and worry he put his family and that other teen's family through, and does he not understand he could have been killed pulling a stunt like that.Maybe he shouldn't be locked away, but someone needs to sit and tell him of the consequences that could have happened by doing what he did.But at least the worst didn't happen and they both were found safetly.

Someone had to have known where they were. I mean really? You're telling me that these kids just walked around the woods in the elements, had nothing to eat or fresh water to drink,FOR A WEEK and everything is just hunky dory?! Did they go to the hospital to be treated for dehydration or hypothermia? A deeper investigation needs to take place and someone needs to be charged.SOMEONE fed them. SOMEONE helped them. SOMEONE KNEW WHERE THEY WERE. What matters most is that Charlie is home safe. He is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. There is no way he did this on his own. It's just not in his nature. I know the lockards and I smell a rat. God bless you Charlie.

Uh, no he probably doesn't understand what he put these people through because he is MENTALLY handicapped, not PHYSICALLY. Last time I checked there was a difference.

Charlie sure is a sweet person and I dont really expect he would understand the consequences of his actions. However put, it seems like a case of parental neglect on his fathers part and he is well aware of the consequences caused by his son. Maybe the local searching authorities should send Mr Lockard a bill for all their time and services rendered. Then maybe he would wake up and tend to his flock. If he heard his son calling for him shortly after he went missing why did Mr Lockard wait until the next day to call authorities and report his son missing. Dont lock up the children, lock up the father!

OMG, he is mentally challenged so YES to answer your questions he is Mentally Challenged which means he doesn't fully understand the consequences of his actions having a medical illness or disease such as MS is different from having a Brain that is damaged not functioning to it's fullest ability. As far as sitting him down and telling him of the consequences would not work again because he is mentally challenged again different then having a illness or disease.
To the families, I am glad that both where found safe and unharmed. I too have a child that is Mentally Challenged and was on a roller coaster with emotions watching this all thinking what if that was my daughter.

first off this wasnt all him he did this for his girlfriend to keep her safe she didnt want to go home.so he was profecting her...this wasnt just charlie this was his girlfriend charlie has no reason to run away he loves his family and his life he just lost his mother last year do to cancer so there is alot that has gone on..but he would never do it for no reason! so nobody should just be putting this on him.

"parental neglect"and you freaking kidding me my uncal is a great father and dose everything for his boys he charile is 18 years old yes he dosent have a mind like a 18 year old but he is not stuiped.!Charile did this to be with his girlfriend he did this for her not for himself!

I'm so happy for the whole family that the 2 teens were finally found and were ok. I think that, while terrifying for his dad,it shows how well Charlie was raised. He stayed with Donna to keep her safe out in the woods. How many men do YOU know, and even at his young age, who thought enough about a woman to do as Charlie has? He risked his own health and well being to keep his girlfriend safe and keep her from being alone. I'm so touched! I send thanks to God for keeping them in his care. AWESOME that his uncle found him. Imagine THAT phone call to his brother in law!!!:)

Well, I am glad this story had a happy ending. However, a few of these postings makes me question whose, "mentally challenged" and who isn't. I'm starting to believe that the "mentally challenged" ones weren't lost, or ran way, in the woods. But rather posting on the WFMZ website. If what I read was true,(postings) then I now understand why they ran away.
