Has anyone read this?

I couldn't agree more with this article. I believe in innocent until proven
guilty but there is nothing to support Cheryl's claims. I do not know either family but am amazed at the support given Cheryl by her neighbors when they obviously did not witness anything. I must agree with Willie Cunningham. From the evidence of this trial, other than Cheryl's testimony, Bob sounded like a great guy who continually supported his wife even though she did a lot of things that, by her own admission, were not in her family's best interest. I am also bewildered by the cry of many that her children deserve to be with their mother. I believe the children deserve better. |

The most brilliant, logically sound, and well-written analysis of this case that I've seen.

Absolutely great! It's nice to know she hasn't fooled everyone. I think her testimony sounds rehearsed, and ready to be on Lifetime Movie channel.
Guilty, Guilty, and Guilty! |

Doesn't sound like the jury agreed with you, Ky Girl.
You mean guilty, guilty, and more guilty? The verdict is in....and she is guilty as charged. You do the crime, you do the time. Thank you prosecution, great job. Deanna, great job. However, you are about to be on Dateline, and 48 hours, and possibly Snapped, which will pick up any income you lost. You deserve it, great job, not so good client. |
So, if this ends up on Snapped, Dateline and 48 hours, does Cheryl benefit financially? The lawyers? Bob?
Also, I have a question about sentencing. 1st Degree Manslaughter carries 10-20 years in Ky, right? Is there minimum that she will have to serve? I keep thinking about the Mary Winkler case and she seems to have served very little. It seems to me that a message was sent that you just can't shoot your spouse and claim abuse. Although, I am not convinced that the defense did a great job...I am sure there is so much legal stuff they had to abide by...Rest in peace Bob. IF you did abuse Cheryl and the kids, shame on you. I do think Cheryl had so MANY more options. Shopping seemed to be her only option of choice. Sad, sad case. I am happy she didn't walk. I am surprised, however, I though she would. I find it amazing that the jury could agree. |

She will have to serve 85% of whatever they give her.
| ||||
She should have gotten the needle.
This is why I refuse to say the plegde to the flag. There is NOT justice for all. |
If they thought she had killed him in cold blood they would have given her murder one. I would say manslaughter is the better choice and that perhaps the jury is thinking time served is sufficient. I wouldn't celebrate yet.
Not!! |

Offended, you offend me. And I am sure you offend the McCafferty family.
It's not a matter of justice. It's a matter of what the prosecution could prove. Just like the first OJ trial. |
That's s stupid statement. They found her guilty of the charge. |
I don't understand why they gave her the things on abuse? Now that will make it easier for her to get out! If there was never any signs of abuse only what she is claiming how the hell can they do that? I say all FtThomas people go to the parole and or right letters and keep this killer in for atleast most of it! I AM

You're damn right duh. A modern, strong woman wouldn't have tolerated the very first abuse. She'd have called the police. Documented it. Got a restraining order. The concept that some women are too frightened to do anything about abuse is a slap in the face to all women.
You just have no idea what you are talking about. And yet you go on running your stupid mouth. Do you think calling the police keeps a woman from being beat? Or controlled by a man who wants to control and torture her? And do you really think leaving gets her away from his abuse? How stupid and smug you are. You really have no idea what it is like to be in a relationship like that or what it is like to be terrorized by someone. Even modern, strong women find themselves in relationships that they can't escape that are dangerous and out of control. This isn't the 1950's, but the justice system doesn't work to protect women much better today either. You shouldn't presume to think you know all the answers unless you have been in such a situation yourself.
You have no idea what positions I've been in. I guess the answer is to cower and hide. Take the beatings and be quiet. So, you believe women are inherently weaker than men and must have special legal protection. You're entitled to your fucked-up opinion I guess. |

Words of Wisdom from Offended;
Do you think calling the police keeps a woman from being beat? Or controlled by a man who wants to control and torture her? Answer: "yes", it would have put her one step toward freedom..Pulling the trigger took her back several, and COST HER "HER FREEDOM", as in Inmate #279986/227215, resident at PEEWEE VALLEY.... So quit your preaching, and let the law take care of the supposed offenders/supposed offenders that didnt live to tell the story. |

until you are in abusive situation with children we should not pass judgement,i always said i wouldnt put up with abuse but once children are involved an abuser will use them to control you--i was pregnant before the abuse started,it took years to stop the verbal abuse, i just thank god i was born stuborn and with a strong will or i wouldnt have survived it,and i thank god i didnt do anything life threatening. you make alot of sacrifices and lose financially but if you stay strong it will all work out without further violence.that situation made me a stronger person--you are mostly on your own,the police and the law can help but ultimaly its up to you. he is now a better person also we are not together and havent been for a long time--we were like oil and water..but he thanks me frequently for being the mother i was and for being strong for our children,it still doesnt make up for the years but he is very good to our children now and i feel truly regrets his mistakes..again i thank god i didnt turn to violence to end it.jealousy is the worst emotion that we have. i say a prayer everyday for women who are caught up in these situations. it can happen to any of us
