Great ! now we can get rid of the commissioners since Mr. Penska will be doing the job the commissioners are suppose to be doing. That,s a pretty good why to cut the budget if you ask me! Since Snyder has come forth and stated he will not run again that means we only have to oust of 2.:)

Oh, Great, Another proud member of the government ruling class, thrust upon our backs to the tune of over 100,000 dollars a year with benefits, and he gets to have his butt powdered for the rest of his natural life with insane retirement benefits at our cost.

All because the County Supervisors won't do their jobs and "meet with" county employees to give them direction and supervision. THEY CALL THEM SUPERVISORS BECAUSE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO SUPERVISE THE COUNTY. NOT HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR THEM.....

And all of this was engineered from a State Government Symposium made up of county supervisors who decided they needed to recommend each county hire a manager. Then they take their own advice when they get home, and hire a manager... Talk about feathering your own nest and blaming it on someone else....

how on earth do they (the commissioner) justify this? Isn't managing the the County their jobs. How cool to elected to do a job and then hire someone to do it for you.

You are so right! They need to be weeding out dead weeds, not hiring more at tax payers expense. Maybe then they could reduce taxes instead of raising them. The more they scrape at our pockets, the closer we'll sink to a depression.

I agree with everyone. We should get rid of the county commissioner position and replace it with a oversight board similar to those of non profits organizations. I would make it a five person board. They would meet twice monthly and receive a stipend for their time. This would save money.

I do have one question. The grant for this position is for two years. What happens after those two years?

The Commissioners again showing arrogance and just how out of touch they are with the taxpayers. In times like these everyone, especially our elected officials should be asking how can I do more with less? Not hey, here is suggestion as to how to spend more money, let's do it. I have not heaed of our Commissioners being overworked, putting in long hours or the like. Glenn Snyder did not mention that when he said he was not going to run. The sale of Green Acres, the outsourcing of food service at the prison, should all be things lightening the load of the Commissioners, so why a manager now? I think the Commissioners should find their jobs more taxing so we taxpayers could be taxed a little less. Paul Kellett

Mr. Penska will be nothing more than another puppet at the end of George’s strings.
