What, now u are trying to change peoples religion? It doesnt say how long these people have been there. Now where are they supposed to go? There must be more Amish out there than just that one couple? Stop picking on them!!!

Your religion does not give you the right to violate a court order.

You have got to be kidding me. Picking on two families. If they were muslim there would be outrage, protests, beatings and killings for such blasphemy. And they would be living in their homes.

You hit the nail on the head. They should file a discrimination suit! They are peaceful people who follow God closely and would not make a spectacle of themselves that way, maybe that's why they are being picked on!

The Amish do have very strict religious beliefs in modern tech: Clearly the Government has over step it bounds in this case based on the Amish sect religion. Boo, hiss! this is just another case were rights have been striped from the peasants of the kings town.

I would love to see the response, on all sides, if these were two Muslim families...

I really can't believe I am reading this. The Amish live off the land, and give back so much. So their beliefs are different, is that not the reason we live in this country, a freedom to believe what we want to. Take a look at some of the so called houses in Allentown, they are not locking those doors for code voilations. unbelievable.

Most Amish families live on and farm the same land for generations; has that area built up so much that new sewer/building regulations had to be put in place? Whatever happened, it's a shame that the Amish families and the officials couldn't have gotten together and tried to work something out before it came to eviction.

If they were Mexican we could have just beat them to death because that's ok.

our forefathers would be ashamed. the pilgrims would be ashamed. this goes against what this country was started for. besides that it's their dang house. maybe they should proceed with telling them how to decorate it too since the judge wants to get so involved.

Would you want YOUR neighbors violating sewage regulations?

Oh, and you don't now? There is absolutely no way that an Amish farmer with no modern sewage system is going to contaminate anything. Why don't you question the (mostly corporate) farmers who use pesticides and other toxic chemicals how their practices contaminate the water system? Oh that's right, they have the same religious belief system as you do - worship the almighty dollar!

This article should enrage every decent American. Free the Cambria County 4!

While it is sad that they were evicted these families had time to abide by the law. It is outrageous that so many people believe that people should be allowed to break the law simply because of their religion. By the way, I enjoy having modern sewer systems and neighbors that use them.

If what they did actually endangered someone or the water system, fine, but why do I have the feeling it's just the local government stomping on people to show they can. Leave them the F alone.
