The is the stupidest thing I've heard lately. There are not many areas it is even safe to discharge a weapon! Nowhere but Lenoir!

watch an increase of inexperienced gun injuries as well as property disputes because Joe Bloe shot a duck on Jim Bob's front lawn.

What do we pay animal control for???

Did you even read the article? It'd only be allowed with a temporary permit, specifying the circumstances around the target animal, that has to be approved, and only to those who already have a hunting license/safety course. BillyBob can run for the rifle every time he sees something scampering across the horizon.

And it's a proposal taken from ordinances from 25 other NC towns, so no, it's not "nowhere but Lenoir"...

I would normally agree that this is a bad idea but I actually read the article and it sounds like they designed the proposed ordinance with several checks in place to prevent problems and basically gave the PD ultimate say over who can and cant.

The problem that will arise in this town is the number of idiots who will just read the article title or hear it from a friend at work and assume they can now start blasting every bird, dog, cat, rabbit, cricket and insect withing a hundred yards of their property using a high powered rifle.

I cant wait to hear about the first moron that says he felt threatened by flock of killer robins and fires an entire 30 round magazine from his AR-15 into the surrounding neighbors houses. I wonder if they will start issuing permits to bag nuisance neighbors now, one can only hope.

Whats the big deal? We have black bears. Have saw 2 this summer and saw 4 last summer. One even came in the yard and licked the foil on the grill after we had a cook out. Didnt bother me to go out later and clean up the mess. I was burning brush one day and one ran right by me 15 feet away and didnt even bother me. We have coytoes too, see them once in a while. They just ran like mad. I sure don't want nobody shooting them. Mostly the coons that come up to the door and beg for cat food. Don't mind them either, except having to clean the dirty water in the cat water dish after they wash thier hands in it.

Well all I can say if a bear or coyote was to come in my yard I would shoot it. Most of my family hunts they shoot deer, bear, birds, doves, and racoons. I don't see what the big issue is.
