OMG....all I can do is shake my head with this news. A 5 yr old should NOT be dying from anything much less these highly lethal drugs.
I hope and pray that they fry this so called 'mother'....this is the perfect example of why methadone should not only be more restricted but banned altogether! It gets into the hands of all these drug crazed idiots who could give a hoot less about their life much less thier children's lives. All that matters to people like this is thier next high....

Just wait, the extremist pros will be posting it was the kid's fault. God forbid an adult methadone user actully take responsibility for themselves.

Pam, this is about 20 min from me and the very same county where Jamie died. When she goes to court, you can bet your a@@, I will be there. We need to start going to these court proceedings when we live close enough, I will be going as a MAMA rep just like MADD. This will start getting some attention when we do this. I will start the day this lady goes to court. I also use to work in that county and sat on the CJPP (Criminal Justice Partnership Program) so maybe that can help. Love, Mary

Wonderful Mary that you are close enough to become involved in this particular case! Please keep me updated on this....Your standing alone in the community will help immensely. Good vibes to you and I pray this mother gets her just due for this....
For a future with NO MORE methadone deaths!!!!

This is horrific. What in the world could be deemed a punishment that would fit the crime? Mary, please do keep us updated.

How could this happen? I mean, I know some people aren't responsible with their methadone or their children but isn't methadone put in a child proof bottle? Did someone open the bottle for the baby? This breaks my heart. Another childs life has been cut tragically short because of the negligence of unfit parents. Rest in peace baby boy. You are in a better place now.

I am so saddened by this article. It keeps going round and round in my head about what might happen to the 13 year old. My lord, what a life he has ahead of him. This woman should get many many charges for her actions. There are many mothers out there like this one. They are a disgrace to the name mother. She killed her child. And ruined the other ones life. He will have a hard way to go.

I'm just glad she didn't die in her attempt to off herself so she can face what she's done and not take the easy way out.

Better step up that banning campaign, they are dropping off everday in your own state. Wait a minute, maybe if the education had started rather than this ridiculous mission to try and ban a medication that saves thousands of lives more people would be alive today in NC. Either way unless people just dont understand in this state what methadone does to a person when they use it recreationally then I guess the deaths will continue because no one is educating here it seems because they keep happening over and over and over again, just like the do in Florida, Kentucky , West Virginia. And you know what???? these same states were the same states that had all the oxy deaths as well...what is wrong with this picture. yeah ban methadone thats the cure all...NOT.
