There are 2 comments on the Charlotte.com story from Nov 26, 2007, titled Smith to Concord: 'We're here forever'. In it, Charlotte.com reports that:

A news conference today touting billionaire Bruton Smith's decision to keep Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord was long on congratulations and short on details about $80 million in incentives for him.

But after nearly two months of anxiety over the track's fate -- which Smith disclosed last Wednesday -- Smith turned to Concord Mayor Scott Padgett at the news conference and said, 'Mayor, I'll tell you, we're here forever.'

Smith stressed he had been seriously considering moving his track out of Concord. Read more

Let's give a billionaire an 80 million dollar tax cut so he ca make more money and raise property taxes to pay for it. This corporate welfare makes me sick. Let him take his raceway and it's traffic and noise somewhere else.

Those who don't know of what they speak, should not do so Steve !
Smith has never gotten or asked for money from the city or county and his facility has brought billions of revenue into Cabarrus County.
There has been substantial growth in the area near Lowe's Motor Speedway. Mainly because of road improvements to help with Speedway traffic flow during the few major events held here each year. We as residents benefit from these improvements year-round, and the bulk of the monies going to Smith will again help the entire community not just his venue. The press has tried very hard to make this a negative. Obviously, like you sir, NO VISION !!! This situation has actually opened some eyes throughout the state of projects that needed to be done years ago.
