Interesting as someone believes something should be done about gang activity and or deterring gang membership.

In an article not long ago the man running for Congress against Heath Schuler believes it is just rumbumptious teenagers. In fact I can remember posting a comment for the article that a rumbumptious teenager just shot another child.

I am all for the programs of deterrence but there is a line which has to be drawn, and that line is crossed when a crime has been committed. Once that happens, they then should be treated like any other law breaker.

Perhaps Carl Mumpower himself will donate funds or sponsor a young individual this summer. Since he wants to be our representative perhaps this is his opportunity to back up want he speaks.

Mr. Mumpower seems to be the only local politician who gives a **** about preventing local gang-related crime.

Why do you insult him? It is all the others who should be insulted about this, because they effectively have given the taxpayers the biggest insult of all by not addressing this issue in a significant way.

They gave money for more 'art' in pritchard park, festivals, fireworks, and other entertainement, but are claiming they will have to raise taxes to do 'more' about gangs and drug crimes.

Because the constituents of jones, cape and newman are generally the socialist- mostly- worried -about -feeling- gooders who don't have real jobs and are concerned more about being entertained and falling into a trance at drum circles than prioritizing the safety (risk of death) issues in this community.

Check out some of the recent city council minutes and read what miz purple-power cape thinks will prevent gangs.(hint: it's picnics).

You are so correct. This city is MESSED UP.

Can you post a site for the minutes, I am interested.

One must be careful of the terms one throws around. I don't see the city counsel as socialist but a counsel of annexation, and tax greed. I do in fact believe there are something which could constitute underhanded activity.

Construction approval reliant on annexation, this county plaza property deal. Unaccounted for tax revenues, and how about the 12 million slush fund which became apparent after the water lines broke. No one has ever had any accountability.

I agree with you the city of Asheville has it's faults , but it still remains a good place to live and raise a family.

I will admit I had higher hopes for our local legislators.
