Asheville-area jobless rate drops to 7.9 percent
Boosted by hiring in manufacturing and teachers hired back for the fall, Buncombe County saw its jobless rate drop in September to 7.9 percent, down from 8.4 percent in August.

All of those that have exhausted their unemployment benefits aren't being counted.
