I wonder how the county "eradicated" the plants; it seems to me they couldn't have burned them or buried them.

Election time !!!!!!! How can this have nbeen going on and no one knew it until now. How can Law Enforcement find this much illegal control substance with the assistant of helicoptors and not track to offender. Now, how about the land owner. The should be held accountable for drugs growing on thier property. Did they think about this. Are they not accountable for this? Three areas in the county and no one arrested except maybe one. Arrest the land owners, they know something. They profitted from this. I definitely do not agre with no one being arrested. Thiscould be a definitely be a loose for the sheriff.
again, there's no way this bust couldn't be made during an election year. if there were 6000 plants i'd assume they were probably planted at some point in 2011, an election year. i'd also say that right about july and august is when they would be most noticeable by a helicopter. and it's ludicrous to say the land owner should be arrested. if you were a 70 year old man with 2000 acres of land like the owner of this particular property with a good part of the land being cutover you wouldn't keep track of every inch of it either.

let me tell you how a bust like this works. a state police helicopter spots the marijuana and informs the sheriff's department being that it's their jurisdiction. then the sheriff's dept. and state police join forces and make the raid. buckingham county doesn't own any helicopters so it's the state police that initiates the investigation. has nothing to do with an election coming up, just the sheriff assisting the state police on their discovery.

I understand that drugs are illegal(crystal meth, etc.) but reefer should not be on that list... it seems wrong to fill the already overpopulated prison system with people who were farming reefer. There aren't many jobs/opportunities in Buckingham

All you idiots who think pot needs to stay illegal must be insane. 500 Dollars a second is spent every year on the war on drugs; in other words multi- billions of dollars a year. Maybe we could use that money to better our children's education or feed the poor or clean the environment. It is a simply a waste of time. No one is dying because of marijuana. Marijuana does not make you stupid and does not give you cancer. People who hold good respectable jobs smoke marijuana. Your government has fooled you your whole lives into thinking so. It is very sad that you people do not see this. Its time to wake up. The real criminals are the police and government ruining these peoples lives over a plant. I could go on forever about this but i simply refuse to. And Patty you are very foolish to think that the police are keeping america safe by "eradicating' marijuana. If the shit was legal who would be killing and robbing over it? What we choose to do with our own bodies is no ones business or concern but our own.
Thanks.
