Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Comedy in the wrong hands can be dangerous. For the latest proof, we turn to Broward County Chief Judge Dale Ross' stint in magistrate court last weekend.

Ross is a sarcastic shmuck. Everyone in the courthouse knows it.

He gets away with it because he's the chief judge.

What Mayo witnessed is nothing compared to Ross' regular (ahem) shtick.

If you pay attention to what he says and how he says it, you clearly come to realize that Ross is utterly devoid of compassion, wholly meanspirited and on a mission to legally hurt people while insulting them in public.

Dangerous statements, and humor have no place in court. Obvious personal opinions can overide the law. It is the law that rules Chief Judge Dale Ross, not the other way around.

It is difficult dealing with scum all day. Sometimes cops and judges get a warped sense of humor.......it is just a way of coping. Dale is a great judge.

The guy's wife did just die of cancer, so he may be under some emotional stress. Unfortunately, when the quality of judges' work is affected by such outside factors, it can have pretty severe consequences.

Nevermind. Wrong guy. I was thinking of Judge Andrews. Guess Ross is just a jerk.

Let's see, caustic remarks by a judge, a hyper-sensitive Public Defender, overcrowded courtroom with scum - sounds about right for Broward.

For their own circus and make all the jokes they want. They are all above the law and they know it.

At least they had their day in court. I got rooked into a 4 year court Battle and never got to speak to the Judge every hearing was delayed cancelled put off what a joke the legal system in Broward its all a game and a scam thats why I say let the clowns pay for their own new courthouse.

I am a minority and I think he is funny. The reason it is funny, like most humor,is because there is a basis of truth to it. Your political correctness is ridiculous and is one of the reasons Europe will no longer be "Western", as they took it to the extreme disregarding reality as you do.

It seems like a very fine line these days that separates criminals from police and judges. They all seem to behave so badly that I can't tell who the good guys are anymore.

MIchael Satz State Attorney is the one who fixed the Finkelstein case, not judges.

Why is Mayo surprised by his actions? Courthouse insiders have been complaining about him for years. They should investigate his hold on power and the way he uses the duties of Chief Judge to take care of hjis friends and family.

Thank goodness there's someone who can inject a little humor into the judicial system while still following the law. We need more judges and politicans like Ross. He's the longest running Chief Judge for a reason - it's called hard work.
