Some in Pompano fear redevelopment will oust longtime residents

There are 1 comment on the South Florida Sun-Sentinel story from May 6, 2012, titled Some in Pompano fear redevelopment will oust longtime residents. In it, South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that:

A plan to change what's known as Old Pompano - the original Pompano Beach between Interstate 95 and Dixie Highway in the city's central area - from a run-down area built in the 1950s to a densely developed and attractive downtown is drawing criticism from some residents after seven years of planning.

This area is in need of major change and I wouldn't mind seeing many of the older residents move. Sure they were here first but when you have 3 bedroom homes filled with about 20 people then clearly they need to move to a bigger home and stop trashing the area. If they can't afford it then they need to learn what birth control is. Every day when I leave for work it looks like the weekend in Kendall Green never ended. Does anyone work anymore? Maybe they could pay the higher taxes if they quit spending money on drugs and rims and actually got a job. They complain about paying higher taxes but what about me having to pay higher taxes because these deadbeats keep popping out babies and staying on welfare. Where in the hell do they think that money is coming from? Try hard working residents. Do they even know what hard work is? Every new gas station or business that comes in and looks nice is destroyed in about 2 weeks. The gas pumps no longer work, people throw their trash in the parking lots, windows get busted out, pay phones never last, and you can't even get in and out of the store without someone wanting to know if you "party" and try to sell you drugs. If these people can't finish school that working residents pay for them to go to, won't get jobs, and can't afford to live while on welfare, food stamps, free cell phones, and all the other assistance they get, then they need to move on. I'm sick of living around a bunch of blood sucking leaches that don't care about anyone else. Bring on the new Pompano and force these mooches out! Maybe if you cut them off from everything then they'll get off their lazy asses and go find work like the rest of us.
