Obviously, you havent read the classified sections lately.Maybe its time for you to come out from your rock.If you work at a department store, your lucky to grab a job at $8--$10 an hr. Your receptionist, im sure is making no more than $10-$12 hr.An assistant dental hygenist makes $12hr.With over 800k people unemployed
The companies here do not have to pay alot, because work is hard to find, and they will be happy to work at any rate of pay, regardless of their professional experience.I have heard some real estate folks who are having a hard time making money in their profession are now taking jobs at Walmart.Perhaps your one of the lucky ones, that didnt have to take a few steps backwards in pay.
I encourage you to research some more and be real with the people on the board!!!
I encourage you to do more than be a sales clerk in a dept. store

<quoted text>Well you are out of touch and lucky to have an employer who pays what you are worth. Today, employers here want you to be bi lingual, know every computer program out there, be available at all times for the cut rate price of $10 -14 hr. Also, they will keep your hours below 40 so that you do not get benefits. This is the way it is here and many other cities now. I know several degreed people who have to work two jobs just to make what they were making before, only without benefits this time.
I spent my teen years alternating between tips-generating jobs and hard labor jobs. Neither are easy. Many teens took the easy route of standing behind a retail desk mouth breathing and collecting their minimum wage. Many adults do too.

Suzanne, If Real Estate is booming, you must be making the dough flow now. What I dont understand is that your on the message board alot, so either your lying to the folks out there that real estate is booming or maybe your using your fancy blackberry and blogging while your showing properties off which I doubt.

When is the media going to learn? Let see. If two years ago, homes were built at 500 homes/month. Today, let say 10 homes/month. A 34% increase from previous month = 14 homes. Wow, what a deal. No if they were built, ok it is an improvement. But when there is more foreclosures that built, it is not an improvements, it is a disaster for the economy and the home values continue dropping. Come on media, stop flapping the mouth as a fish. Get the facts.

The original poster claimed that there were no jobs beyond $10 an hour advertised in South Florida. It a few seconds, my superior research showed otherwise. I could have posted dozens more jobs that pay well in excess of $10 an hour.

The point is that high-paying jobs do exist in South Florida for those with proper experience and relevant education.

Without an education and experience, a job seeker will be forced accept the $10-per-hour jobs.

Alternatively, as long as they have a GED, they can become a RealtorĀ® like me. However, most of them won't have my superior research skills, which will limit their profit-making abilities.

Hopefully, you will not have to look for a position because you are so naive, it would be very difficult for you. Of this list, one is in Gainesville, not SOFL, 2 are recruiters which means they are bogus positions, and one is a telemarketing job. Maybe the other two are legit, but it is questionable. There are some jobs, doctor, lawyer, judge, etc. of course make more than $10 hr. These are far and few between. We are talking the majority of hires today, now, as we speak, are not going to be making anywhere near that. It will be in the $10-15 dollar range, plain and simple.

$10 a hour is top salary in Florida? Really?
My research shows otherwise.
As for builders, they still haven't stopped building. For instance, check out awesome projects like the Tao Condominiums in Sunrise. With the lack of land, they're building UP now with the limited land left. Why else would they build 26-floor residential buildings in West Broward if builders weren't really running out of land?
Thank you for your research! I appreciate your hard work.

You hurt my feelings.
Here I am, doing valuable research for the public at large and all you can do is maliciously insult me.
What are you doing to contribute to the conversation other flinging pathetic, sophomoric taunts at kind people like me?
Well one thing is for sure. Suze Orman doesnt agree with this Sue. Suze feels prices may possibly level out in 2010 but they wont be going up for a long time after that.

Suze Orman? All those carpet fumes must be melting away her brain cells. Consuming all that cardboard can't be helping either.

I know Canada real estate has been booming, but after seeing the crash in the USA, enjoy the ride for now but be cautious because it could all end at the snap of a finger

Kinda doubtful here, as US incomes rose over 5%, last year....and here we have construction pretty active....President Clinton will continue that....
