What corruption in Brooks County? Who would have thought this was possible? The absentee ballot is not the only issue. There is also the issue that Brooks County will not let you vote in local elections unless you are a democrat. Now before everyone gets started with "but it is the primary", I just want to say, by the time the primary elections begin everyone has qualified for the general election, no matter what party. If their is no opposition to the one that wins the democrat nominee then the election should be held in November during the general election, and let everyone vote, no matter what party they are affiliated with.

Payback is a Mother. Finally, forward thinking people have awakened in Brooks. At the end of the day, you will find that a group of intelligent, knowledgeable, determined "Citizens" banded together to make "Politics" work in Brooks County.

Chris, It is not Brooks county that would not let you vote if you didn't choose to vote Democrat. It was the contestants that decided they all wanted to be Democrats instead of running on a Republican ticket that would not let you vote unless you voted Democrat

A few of our Democrats or DANs in Quitman will be going to jail it's a federal crime to manipulate votes in any way.
these people think what they did was ok??? let them prove their innocence. Rosies restraunt was instrumental in making this happen after all it was her daughter Diane Thomas who won.
the incumbants are running again in November on opposite tickets I don't think the absentee votes will happen again as they just did.Mrs Thomas had a great party at her house with guest speakers talking about the change coming to BC school system

Change has come to Brooks and your post proves it. So sad, that you use such a public and universal forum to slander a good person's name. I feel your pain and disappointment, but have you considered that this just might be the vote of the people? I have found that a person's true inner self cannot be hidden, and this applies to this medium. If I were you, I would be very careful who I point fingers at. And by the way, whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty". Apparently, some of "US" in Brooks County have a long-long-long-long..........w ay to go. God bless you.

I hear soooo many uninformed people speaking on this subject it blows me away. Mr. Bush you need to be educated on how the voting system works in primary elections. You only get to vote for candidates running for your party which you select before you begin voting. I honestly believe our school system would be better having two former teachers on the board as opposed to Rentz and so woman that NEVER GRADUATED FROM BROOKS COUNTY HIGH BECAUSE SHE GOT PREGNANT. Look ignore the color of your skin for just a minute and think about the kids. On the other hand...something is certainly not right and if wrong doing is found lock any and everybody involved up in federal prison. I just hope the truth will be revealed soon. I want the facts because honestly, lets face it, those black folks should have never beaten those outstanding white citizens right?

Had it been a fair election there would be no problem.I was at the pole voting when the black i'm sorry african american voters were complaining they voted absentee in the local election but need to vote for governor etc.....they had no clue how voting works.I wonder who was leading them in the first place sounds like they were mislead. I think it was the vote of some people (SOMBER)just like they wanted it.why does BC need so many absentee votes way more than surrounding counties. My good friend ronald bryant was voted out by absentee as well as Lori Hagan by absentee so lets don't use the race card. it's more corruption to me.Just for your info there are affidaviates from the black voters stating how they were lead into this corruption by their black helpers in the community. Are the blacks so down in our great community they can't get a ride to the poles and vote I didn't realize so many were under indegent care.I have a lot of black friends in this great county whom are greatly concerend about the voting tactics used in the last to elections is this Chicago style politics or what just let me lose fair and square.

Dear God,
Please answer this person's prayer and send their child to any school other than the one he/she went to. It is not this child's fault that their parent went to Ignoramus High School where they apparently majored in ebonic idiocy. This child deserves a chance to become a productive member of society instead of an illiterate, uneducated, government aid abusing leech.

Amen

I am an educated former student of the Brooks County School system and the University System of Georgia. I can say that I know everyone on the Board of Education both past and present. Gary Rentz and Myra Exum have devoted so much to the Brooks County School System over the years that they should be commended for their contributions. Regardless of skin color God sees all wrong, so if Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Troutman are guilty then shame on them. Everyone is making this about skin color, well wake up! It is about right and wrong. If they cheated to get in office it will come out in the proverbial wash. They will be the ones who have not advanced the quality of the schools for the children, but instead have set it back immensely. We are supposed to look to people in office as role models for the children. What will the children of Brooks County have to look forward to now? If they are found guilty of voter fraud you can best bet it runs deeper than the 2 candidates for School Board. It will run through the Democratic Party of Brooks County. Ultimately they are both innocent until proven guilty under the laws prevailing over our justice system. I'm sure this is far from over, I can only hope that the Brooks County School System and the citizens of Brooks County are the true winners in the end as the truth will prevail.
WOW! All of this from a former student and GRADUATE of the Brooks County School System. BCTROJAN, just remember "judge not least ye be judged", so don't criticize other people for their opinions because you have opinions too.
I think Chris Bush has a point. LOCAL elections should be on a separate ticket from the primary elections because not everyone wants to vote Democratic and absentee voting definitely needs reform. I just can't help but to find it funny that the election for School Board and County Commissioner had a larger voter turnout (counting the absentee vote) than the Presidential election in 04' and the largest in history the 08' election. However, until the Constitution or the State Constitution is amended it will remain as it is now. Maybe we should all WRITE our Representatives and Senators and voice our opinion on this. In closing I can honestly say that I may not be a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon, but I can say I did receive a very good and valuable education from Brooks County Schools. So, yes the outcome of this needs to put the children first and quit moaning and groaning about skin color and politics.

All the years that Mr. Rentz and Mrs. Exum won the elections, not once did the African Americans (Blacks) contest their winning. In BC, we have a large number of voters who are elderly or confined to their homes. As an American citizen it is our civic duty AND right to VOTE, whether it is at the POLLS or absentee ballot! I really wish that is was not about skin color but it is and until the day that God comes back to judge the earth it will be. I feel its a shame or there is something hidden within the BC BOE that Mr. Rentz and Mrs. Exum wants the seats they held back soooo badly. Maybe an investigation needs to be looked into that! Furthermore, several BC personnel lost their jobs because of MRS. EXUM seconding the motion (and she couldn't even do it whole-heartedly, she hid behind her half-raised hand), after several minutes of noone stepping up to the plate! And why did they lose their jobs, not because of their performance, because the BC BOE bought 2 brand new buses ($200,000); a pressure washer ($5,000); painting the hoods of the buses (for what, isn't the name on the side enough to know that the buses are from BROOKS COUNTY); the PR Coordinator makes $60,000 a year, more than teachers and in BC, WOW! Maybe I should go back and get another degree in PR!!! It is time for the citizens of BC to wake up, both Blacks and Whites, and look for the overall good for everyone involved.

As I read the post I wonder of all the educated people who have made comments are you really wanting the best education for the students at BC schools or just wanting a change in command whether black or white.I would like to see someone win who didn't have to sneek in with abseentee ballots just go out and encourge your supporters to go to polls there is a right way and a wrong way to win. wonder what kind of politics they will play this could go on for ever commenting. My next concern is TAXES the current leadership has no concern when it comes to property owners taxes being a large land owner myself it's harder to pay taxes than ever before and it doesn't seem to stop if you must sneek in office see if you can sneek taxes out.Bull S%#t has never worked in business it never has, never will. the school is a business and must be ran like one or it will go broke.Remember if you kill the chicken you want gather any more eggs.

NO ONE should even tell you which party to vote for. It is none of there business it is your own choice. Well I know I will be there for each meeting riding their coat tails until the pubic gets what they want and desire this mess out of those seats.

Rufus,
Dont judge a book by its cover. Her teeth or lack thereof do not have a dang thing to do with her ability to lead the BC BOE and in case you didnt know, they make dentures and I'm sure she has some. She obviously wasnt concerned about you and your KKK friends pointing her out in Morven and didnt bother to pop in her dentures and give yall good ole boys a nice big ole grin.

Is this the best you got? Obviously, you are too stupid and ignorant to even be on this page. Do not think you are hidden.Mrs. Troutman is an extremely intelligent, brilliant, and caring HUMAN being-unlike you and your kind. You must be an atheist because someone who loves the Lord would never denigrate a person's dignity. Pray you get a life.
