Is what I am saying, if they could organize and show up at court with their clothes on, they should be allowed a stretch of secluded beach somewhere.
They pay taxes, they want that freedom, it only offends the prudish that may happen upon it, so MARK OFF an area, PATROL it to make sure things don't get too friendly (might be tough to staff that job :-))and let people pursue happiness as they see fit.
We got dog parks, runner's trails, bike trails, exercise courses - they all pertain to specific, fairly narrow segment of the population.
I can guarantee that If Pinellas took a mile of Ft Desoto beach furthest away, and made it full nude, then advertised it in Europe, it would be HUGE!!.
Lets get with it, only reason we are so hung up on nudity is because of the super religious types that brainwash kids at a young age that somehow what God created isn't beautiful and needs to be covered up. They go beyond just modesty, they join sex and guilt so skillfully and it seems to work well for them.
Nudists serve to show us an inconsistency in the way most people think about nudity.
We got our kids brains being filled with violence from TV, PC, video games and some of these games are downright 'murder simulators', that's OK for kids, but God forbid they see something they are naturally curious about anyway.
We got it backwards. Violence, is the real obscenity. Nudity is common and very human and shouldn't be so stigmatized as it is.
Face it, at a certain age, kids get curious, and we feed them more violence instead of what their brain really wants which is, well we know what it is.
I'm not saying give it all to them, but I think in the hands of a straight 16 year old male, A Playboy will do him less harm than the latest killing game.
Now, if I gave him that, I would be a criminal.
I wouldn't, but only used it as an example to illustrate the question of 'What are we really putting into our kid's heads?"
What about mosquitoes ?

I am so sick of a few folks making such a big deal about this. There are many beaches in Florida nothing saying they have to go to any beach around that area. Let's get real, stop wasting, time and money on this and use it to help the poor and abused children. The list of OTHER items is long, go after drug dealers, etc.

Why in the world is there such a resistance to nudists? They behave more sensibly than most clothed people.

Florida is a hot spot for nude vacationers, and contribute much revenue to local business.

Why does the religious right try to dictate how we live our llives? Live yours as you prefer, I'll live mine as I choose, and we'll all be happier for it.

A study was done concerning how much the nudists spend while in that area and it would cause a huge drop in tourist dollars if they were to stop coming.

The beach has seen nude use for over 60 years now. Why not just put up signs so nobody is accidentally "offended" and leave them be?

Playalinda was my first experience with nudism back in 1985 and I've loved the place ever since. With all the miles of coastline in Florida I'm sure this small piece can be set aside for families to enjoy it naturally.

And consider that if the families are chased away the pervs will take over the beach.

The past two years there was only a single complaint about nudity at Playalinda so saying there was an increase in complaints last August wasn't very hard to accomplish. I'd be interested in knowing just who made those complaints. Sounds orchestrated to me!

It's about time that the anti nudity law was enforced at Playalinda. The nudity attracts all kinds of perverts. Registered sex offenders, male prostitutes, and nudists with felony warrants have been arrested at Playalinda. It is common to see men masturbating on beach and other nudists involved in various sex acts in public. Public nudity should not be allowed in a National Park area. It should be done on private property because of all the problems it causes. I have seen the incident reports from this area and it is shocking what goes on there

I have been to Playalinda Beach and I have seen first hand how the nudity has made this National Park into a circus. I have seen the hundreds of incident reports from this stretch of beach and like I said before, it would shock you!! Wife swapping, prostitution, drugs, registered sex offenders getting off on watching the nude children, stalking, etc. The majority if these incidents are happening where the nudists congregate.

There are no "hundreds of incident reports".

Indeed, the park had only one single complaint about nudity in the last two years.

I am not talking about complaints. What I am talking about is law enforcement incident reports concerning nudists involved in public sex acts, public intoxication, prostitution, drugs, stalking, etc. If you do a freedom of information request you will see that hundreds of incidents involving nudists have occurred over the last several years. The trend shows most of these incidents occurring in the nude area. You will also see a regular cadre of registered sex offenders contacted that frequent this area. Observed by law enforcement and documented. The Central Florida Naturists usually request these documents and maybe they would let you see them. I know the truth hurts, but the nudists have turned this part of the park into a cesspool

Find a real uptight beach, or a private club that requires you to wear clothing.
You're probably one of those guys who goes in the crapper stall and locks the door to take a leak.

Here's my two cents. While I've never been to Florida or watch the news much, I must say that I am appalled that such a natural thing as nudism could be treated this way. I am a nudist, but I live far from Florida. My home state is New Jersey. Anyway, as a nudist, I believe that nude is not lewd and nudity doesn't necessarily mean sex unless adults wish it to be so. But, the media has perverted nudity and turned it into pornography. You know what's interesting? Whenever nudity is displayed on tv, they almost always blur out certain body parts, further sexualizing and teasing people. Yet, they almost never edit out graphic violence on tv. So, according to the media, nudity and sex is worse than blood and gore. That's the "great" United States we live in. Nice country, huh? NOT!
