Beloved educator honored by community
“And he's done that for years, up to when he died.”

I graduated from CHS in 1951. Mr. Livezey was our principal during the whole time I attended school there. Later in my life, as I was active in affairs of New York City Public Schools and at Teachers College, Columbia University and at the University, I was often in a position to judge the qualities of educators serving the Public School System. The ruler that I used was often the qualities I observed in Canton's finest educator. Yes, I do believe he knew everyone's name and always sent us away with higher expectations of ourselves. How luck Canton was to have his expertise.
He is a person whose example we all take with us. May he RIP.
