I'm sorry, if memory serves me, I thought I read that Laura held the other woman down so her father could beat (or chop) her with an axe. She is just as guilty as he is. I am so happy to know that there is someone in the community who is capable of doing something like this. Plea barganing should be done away with.

This is the 1st I've heard about this, & just read the article. I think that woman deserves more than just probation! What a horrific crime!

What I don't understand is that if she was not involved, why plead no contest?

She only pleaded no contest so as to avoid a trial by jury. If she would have pleaded not guilty it would have gone to trial by jury, if she would have pleaded guilty she would have recieved a jail sentence. The no contest allowed her to work out a plea bargain, but she was guilty none the less.

If she had no involvment, why would she need to have a plea bargain?

It appears that she got let off if she turned state evidence against her father, this is a process that is used to make a case more solid, I would think that if you do the crime you need to pay the time. Our system sometimes does not do the right things in order for the cases to sway in the directions of there end goals.

I just heard about this through a friend. Has the police checked Thornton's computer out. I understand that Carol met him on the computer. The County DA needs to check his computer and find out about other women that he has met on the internet. Carol had family nearby, but what about the women that don't have family. I have a friend that had met Thornton back in 2001. My friend disappeared and I never heard from her. I am totally in shock. Could this guy, Thornton have done this to other ladies he has met on the internet? THIS is just horrific.

Carol, my heart and prayers go out to you. I will keep praying for you and a speedy recovery.

Thank you SayWhat, I am the victim in this crime, and I want to thank everyone who has been so kind. I am getting better, but it takes a long time as I have so much nerve damage. I wasn't aware that he had met other women online(of course I have since found out that everything he told me was a lie.)I am sure the computer he used was his older daughters since he didn't bring it with him.I couldn't understand why he didn't bring it with him, but he had told me his older daughter lived with him, but the truth was, he lived with her. I hope your friend is found. Also, the newspaper articles say they responded to my house, the real story is that thanks to God's help, I managed to make it to my sister's house across the street. I remember everything about the attack.I laid there on the floor and listened to her say, I don't think she's breathing dad, and he said, F the b..h,lets go outside. They did, and I managed to get up and make it to my sisters. I remember nothing about the walk there, I remember pushing my back door open, then I remember going through my sister's gate and walking up on her porch, I remember when I reached for her door, I said please God let her door be unlocked. It was, I pushed it open, I remember seeing my sis standing in her kitchen, and our 84 year old mom sitting in the living room. After that, I remember nothing until I awakened from the coma a week later. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord took me by the hand and led me there. God bless you all.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Virgo

Someone is being headstrong and wilful, and absolutely determined to do what they want. Mercury is retrograde and it's a Full Moon in Cancer with a lunar eclipse all happening tonight! This could lead to some heated discussions and possibly even rows, as you argue the toss back and forth. It might be best to accept that there's very little possibility of reaching an agreement rather than to get locked in a stubborn battle of wills. Besides, you don't want anything to spoil what promises to be a very enjoyable New Year's Eve. Have fun!
