I don't know what you know about climbing-- but he was roped up, using all the correct gear, an he was free clombing, meaning only using the pieces of gear in the rock to hold a fall, not to pull up on . as in 'aid' climbing.

I also want to congratulate the reporter on his coverage of the accident-- best decription of the patients injuries BY FAR of any news source.
