I can understand reporting an injury where public interest is at stake, but this is due to an individual taking their own life and limb into account - NOT news. This is the same as reporting my nephew falling down, skinning his knee because he didn't wear kneepads while skateboarding, and his mother having to administer bandaids - NOT news! So tired of these types of stories. At least, I hope she's paying for ALL the costs of her rescue due to her OWN choice to engage in high risk behavior at her OWN expense!

Driving is a high risk endeavor, crossing the street can be risky, children's sports, do not even get me started on that one...I would venture that a lean and healthy mountain biker, over the course of their life, will cost the healthcare system far less than the large percentage of obese Americans, rescue costs included.
I am hoping you can expound on other activities that the user should bear the cost of their rescue, especially in light of the fact that most mountain rescue teams are volunteer, with labor cost extracted only by local sheriffs.

Hey "not news". Way to be nice to a fellow American near July 4th. Bitter? Listen, relax, understand some people care, and can't DRIVING be dangerous. Should we then not care? I don't know what your malfunction is, but being negative for the sake of being negative is wrong. How about trying to be positive to the family and friends that read these posts? It's too bad you have this much hatred. I wish the female the best. Enough said. And Joe, I still PWN you on the bike!!

yeah, and the only people posting bitter comments about us are those who knew her. I guess they're all getting their 15 minutes of fame ("I KNEW HER" - hey, big whoop....), so that's all that matters..... well, you know these bicyclists, they all think they're an elitist group, better than the rest of us, you can tell that from their comments.....

Hey - I feel bad that the lady wrecked, but it's not like she needed to have flight for life sent to save her. Her bicycle accident is 'not news' just to put it in simple plain language.
