Talk about completely clueless. Buddy you need to get your facts straight before you post anything. First off every Firefighter that is full time at Sterling is at least a basic EMT. Many of them are ALS. And secondly volunteers are not required to be basics. And by the way if you are from AZ, what right do you have to talk about the topic anyway. Please reply I'd love to hear your anwsers.
I actually live here in Sterling. Is the fire chief full time? Show me a copy of his cert! There are a couple of other full timers that arent- dig deeper as I have. Re-check the requirements- at least when Darryl Curtis was here that was the way of the land. You were firefighter and medial. But then again, darryl wouldnt have let this would have been mutiny in the good ole days...

From a 3-3-09 JA article...

Logan County's current ambulance service is provided by Life Care Medical Inc, which is a privately owned company that receives supplemental financial assistance from Logan County. Doug Smith, owner and CEO of Life Care Medical, states that the combination of hard economic times and too small of a population base are making it difficult to remain financially viable. Smith says he is firmly in support of the proposed ambulance district because it will bring increased patient care and service to Logan County.

"I think it can be a better plan for everybody in the county, including Life Care employees," he said. He said while the service as a tax district may cost the residents more, the county would be better served.
Isnt it interesting how he has changed his tone?!?

Our family has used Doug Smith's services many times in the past, and he and his crew were super great! Even though we have moved away now, we will never forget his kindness and professional way he treated all of us. Thanks, Doug!
