No, more like the guy was jealous because that kid has a future and his future involves spraying, scrubbing and taking out the trash. Jealousy is a powerful enabler and the kid was probably just the closest target when he snapped.

I hate to say it about ol' Ron-bo, but it was a big mistake that president Reagan made, in closing so many of the mental health institutions, back in the '80s.
This is a side-effect of some bad medicine from years past. The mentally ill are not given the care they need, let alone protecting the public from those that are not properly monitored. Mix that with drugs such as our meth epidemic and you have the potential for tragedies like this. It's a recipe for nightmare soup.
I pray that the kid heals well and fast. I also hope that he isn't too jaded toward Colorado, despite his having to be schooled in the "looney-bin", as one so called it a few posts back.
Throw that boy a party at the closest sorority-house. He needs some TLC.

Why was he released from the mental hospital if he has been aquitted several time by reason of insanity? Man, now what, attempted murder dropped because he has lost it? NO, he needs to sit in that padded room for the rest of his life!
I agree with you! It sounds like he should be locked up somewhere and not allowed to roam free. The next person he stabs like that might not be so lucky! I hope the poor kid who was hurt recovers quickly. What a horrible way to begin the school year.

Maybe he isn't on any meds? Could it be he can't afford them or to crazy to be allowed to look after himself. Why do mental hospitals let these guys out when they know they are going to fail?
you can thank the government.

I feel bad for that young kid. Worked his butt off in high school, goes to Boulder and gets stabbed his first day. I hope the co-eds give him some sympathy make-out parties! Beat the perp up and take his freedom forever. Anyone that commits random acts as this needs to be in prison. No second chance.

Does anyone ever do a background check anymore before they hire a new employee? This is too scary to know that a schizophrenic, was hired to work around students. He was released from a mental hospital...does that not raise a flag? C'mon people...screen you employees more before you let them in.What a real creep.

Funny, but I felt the same way after reading this story. Also, the dude in the picture is not 39.

Attention females students of CU-Boulder:
Ladies, it's time to do the right thing. And in this case the right thing is a young man by the name of George Knorps.

Yer? What does that mean or spell? Ya? What does that spell? Peed? What does that mean? Gene Pool! Not Genne-Pool. What a fool!

Once the government changes the crazy person laws, we will continue to see random acts as this. Under the law, the only way to admit a crazy into a crazy hospital is to wait and see if he/she is a threat to themselves or others.

In the 70's, the government let these crazies out. This is why certain cities across the US are so poor and crime ridden. We need the laws to change back!

That would have been the 80's and I don't know that the mentally ill can be blamed for all the crime. THIS guy is psycho, but most mentally ill people that were "let go" out of the hospitals are now part of our homeless population, not all mind you, but alot are.
