Jonathan Cortez Sentenced in Bonneville County for Bachelor Party Shooting

The victims’ families are in shock from the sentencing. Jonathan Cortez was sentence is for 4 to 24 years in prison with time already spent in jail counting as time served. This means Cortez will be out of prison on parole in less than 3 and a half years. The $ 75,000 in restitution is for medical bills only accumulated thus far by the victims. Justice there was no justice done here the court system has just committed a second crime to the victims’ families. Both Thompson and Hansen have to live with the fact that this individual left them with fear of dying at anytime. Hansen if shaken or the pellet in his right heart ventricle moves will kill him on the spot. Thompson can not ride on ruff roads, fly in a plane or receive a jolt to the head. Any of these may move jar the pellet left in his brain causing a stroke, seizures or death. Thompson a welder/mechanic can no longer do what he loved this has been taken away along with leaving him in darkness and poverty. Both individual had no health insurance. Think how you would feel if this was your brother, family member or parent! There ages are 21 and 22 you didn’t hear that on the news ether.

i agree that his sentence was way to soft ,he was trying to kill these young men and in a way he has .I feel no justice was done in this case at all .
