Blount County likes conduct roadblocks on the road that leads up to the street I live on every week. I have never been bothered by them, well other than by the state trooper who thinks that he is God's gift to the world, but they do like to mess with my neighbor who is a female but looks like a guy.

In one year's time, "We The People" were detained and made late by road blocks in Oneonta SEVEN TIMES!(I was only stopped TWICE in 39 years prior to moving to Blount county.)

But here's what most of "We The People" don't see or realize; When "We..." are stopped, one of several men in uniforms, carring guns, comes to your car and demands to see "We The People's" "papers"(as they were called in Nazi Germany)While "We..." are get out our "papers" He stands at your window with his hand resting on his gun and VIOLATES YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS, by preforming an illegal search of your vehicle, as he casually looks through the back window into the back seat, the back floorboard, under the front seats, the front floorboard, the front seats, the dash, the sun visors, in your lap, your shirt pocket and anywhere else he can see from that vantage point.

In 60 years, I've lived in many cities and counties of several different states and a few cities in other countries, so I feel qualified to make a COMPARISON and say THIS:

"Oneonta/Blount County is without doubt THE WORST PLACE I'VE EVER LIVED!" Or ever even HEARD OF people living in!

So PLEASE, spread the word! You just may save some good, decent people from a lot of injustice and misery by waving them off BEFORE they move there.

I've got a lake lot there I'd like to sell, but knowing what I now know I wouldn't sell it to ANYONE....well......except maybe.... Bin Lauden!

Just my two cents....you milage may vary.

I had Bought a Pick up off of Craigs list over a year ago. What happened was I went and looked at the pick up and it was a nice truck .Don't trust anyone. He said he had lost the title but he had the paper work to send in for a lost title... I trusted he was telling me the truth so I purchased the truck.. So I sent in the paper work and I get a letter back from the state that there was a lien on the truck. So I went to make a police report on it and I talked with a officer and when I said the persons name He said to another person that someone in the sheriffs office new him,, Well they said that someone would call me the next week... Guess what no call.. I had to call them..Well called again and and they was going to call me in a few days guess what no call.. So I drove over there and then they told me I had to go to the court house and have a warrant filed. So I had that done and That was in Nov, of last year..So when I talked to the judge and he said that this would be served and I would here something from them. Well I waited till after the first of the year.. Heard nothing.. So I called to the court house.. They told me that they sent the warrant to the sheriffs office.. So I called them,,,Well I was told that the paper work was not filled out right.I asked what was not filled out right,,I was told that it did not have a Drivers license number or a social security number.. I was told they have to have that so they get the right person..Well one thing,,They are the police to find out,, They are the one's with that has the radio.. And that is the person that would of had the truck... Why cant they get the right person.. I had been working 2 jobs and did not have the time to go further with it...I've been talking with the place that has the lien against it.. But I'm not paying what that turkey owes on it.. And I'm not letting this truck go any where........ Beware of this guy.J..... Knue.... You know who you are J... ... Beware.......

I'm glad the departments are dong road blocks. It is for our safety. Being in law enforcement is a dangerous and thankless job.
I wish they would do some around my area. I support Sheriff and his deputies.

I am proud of our sheriff and deputies.
They are spread too thinly over the county. Maybe if they didn't have to answer so may stupid dog complaint calls, they might have time to say hello. They are not there to "baby set" or pamper your egos. They are here to protect us, and get as may dope haulers off our roads. You bet I support and appreciate them every day and night that they put their lives in jeophardy.

I'm not related to anyone in law enforcement, nor do I have any personal or social connections with any of them.
I keep myself informed, as best I can, with all aspects of the county that I live in. Blount County living is a whole lot better than any surrounding counties I know of.
As for following the deputies around to find out where they go and what they do, I'm too busy for such nonsense. They are just doing their jobs.
I do know that we all have to eat, and working long shifts, does not make us less hungrey. I've never heard of a company that does not (by law) give their employees a break.
If you feel like you could do a better job, why not run for sheriff and straighten the whole mess out to your liking.

I hope someone can elighten me on what our new D.A is doing. I heard she bought a Taho way over budget, gave all the women in her office raises, but not the mne. Understand that the investigator she hired out of Jeffco has resigned and was hired bt the sheriff. Also she said she was not going to let crimminals pead out, yet she has done that too
Anyway. More interested about the Thaoe she bought .

I agree with you on the community service, and agree with you on knowing who you are voting for. I don't vote party or gender. I want to know their qualifications, who they are taking money from, etc.
There need to be fines for people who dump their garbage along the roadways. There are good citizens that will go through the garbage to try to find out names and contact the sheriff's dept with the info. I personally know a deputy comtacted the guilty dumper and made him come clean it up. Don't know if they were fined. I doubt it. Some people are so ignorant.

Rosie, the new DA has done more good for this county is the 6 months that she has been in office than the old DA did in the..what..8 years or so that he was in office. So maybe you need to do your research a bit better before you start spouting out things. And she did NOT say that she was not going to let ANY criminals plead out, she said that she was not going to let VIOLENT criminals plead out. And instead of worrying about her new vehicle, maybe you should ask some questions about tax dollars paying for work being done at the sheriff's new home or how one of the deputies in charge of seizures got the money to pay cash for a land purchase that was WAY beyond his income. You can't just focus in on the new comer because she's not kissing good ole boy butt like the others.

oh yea, clem, you got the intelligent answer. I didn't say anything about letting the dope dealers and drunk drivers back out on the streets...I just made clear the campaign promise the DA had made. Duh! And yes, she was asking questions...asking questions that suggested that the new DA is doing something underhanded or dishonest. so back off, Clem/Rosie...whatever your name is. Instead of getting defensive, why don't you come up with something intelligent.

My name is Rosie, not Clem. So calm down! I asked a a few simple questions about a public official, as I have about several of them. And you would have thought I was asking for a lynching for goodness sake.
I don't see how she expects to run the office with just her clerical staff. She has lost 2 good men, that I know of. She did not go into office with a broke budget as the previous 2 D.A's did.
All public officials should be held accountable for their actions.
She does not seem to care how she alienates her self with the very people she should be depending on. So Wakeup your self, and remove your rose colored glasses. I ask questions, I always have and always will. Just keep on sleeping.
