I am heartbroken at the closing of Gwen Frostic's business - especially right before the holiday season when the folks who are running the business could have made additional funds to help rectify their financial challenges. It seems counterintuitive to me to close the business down at this time. I feel as if I've lost a good friend with the closingof this business.

I do hope a compromise can be found.

I, too, am very disappointed that the Gwen Frostic shop has closed. Several years ago we were camping around Lake Michigan when we saw a sign for Gwen Frostic. My friends were in the driver's seat, but when I mentioned her name, we did a real quick "U-y" and had a wonderful visit there. My mother had received several of her books in the 1950s and I have them now. Her pages and words are fantastic. I do wish that it could re-open.

Several years ago when we were traveling and circling Lake Michigan, I noticed a sign for her shop and mentioned it to our friends who were in the driver's seat. Norm immediately did a real quick "U-y" and we ended up spending a long time at the shop. Her books, several of which were in my Mother's collection from the 1950's, are now mine and I treasure them. Her pages and words are so beautiful and ever-lasting. I do hope that someway or other the shop can open again. I have a framed "triplet" picture of trees on my porch wall right now and wouldn't part with it at all!!

Darn it! I never did make it up there. I hope they'll reconsider and open the business or at least make her work available through other means.

Gwen Frostic shop may get new owner soon
Gwen Frostic

Gwen Frostic's historic and much-visited print shop could soon be under new ownership. The once-popular business and tourist attraction closed in October after Honor State Bank foreclosed on the property, leaving customers and visitors uncertain over its future.

It looks to be open and here is some additional information that I found online:
