Amen Stafford. Why are we going to bail out Harley, they never did anything for us at their dealerships. Dealing on a HD, you used to get the smirk from the salesman....that's the price take it or leave it. Long gone are the smirks from the salesman, who now work at Wal-Mart. Take it or leave it? I left my HD sometime ago.

Quoted from the story, "The fate of the Harley operation in York is solely in the company's control, and it should not be up to the Pennsylvania taxpayer to be burdened with a bailout for an investor-owned company that has fallen on hard times due to market forces and labor issues. "

This should hold true. Harley is choking on it's own product and the prices they charge for them. I could own two bikes for the prices of some of their bikes. Don't give me the quality and pride crap. These days, a motorcycle is a motorcycle. I've owned plenty of japanese bikes one of which had nearly 75,000 miles on it and was still running great.

I say let the company to save itself and let the taxpayers decide if they really want to put money out for their products. If they fail, it's their own fault.

Because that's what we do; we bail them out every 25 years. It's time again.

If they would put a more reasonable price on those bikes, people wouldn't be sending overseas for the SAME bike for 20% of the cost of a Harrrrrrrrllleeeeeeeeee.

Even with the high cost they cant get the York plant to show a profit because the Union has created an non-profit environment. Maybe if they move the plant to Albammmy, the price of the bikes can drop and the smirk can return to the Salesman's face.

Prove him wrong. Otherwise you are the loser. I am positive that it was brought to the public's attention a while back about how the Union is becoming more and more of a problem for Harley to work around and with.

Again, the price of these bikes are just outrageous. It's due to many things, including the Union.

See now,Softee, you hit the nail right on the head.
this is what's happening in America. The companies are going offshore to escape unions and excessive taxtion.

Soon, Harleys will be made in China or Taiwan and you'll be able to buy one for 20% of the current cost.

Throwing money at every little problem is like pi3sing on a forrest fire but when you have an endless supply of money and none of it belongs to you , sure, it's easy to throw it around.

I am an Obama supporter and registered democrat, but do not agree with what has become of the union system. The failure of Harley is definitely in large part to the excesses the Union has become. In fact its fair to say that SOME union workers have become entitled in ways similar to those who live off of welfare. There are MANY honest hard working HD workers. However, the system in place has ruined the situation for the company to have a chance to stay in Pa. Bailing out Harley would be a big joke, but would fall right in line with these irresponsible bailouts we've seen already on the federal side.

Self deception will be the main issue today. You may be judging your situation wrongly: don't hold back, say what you think diplomatically and without being hurtful. This should result in a positive mental outlook for you. Competitive sports activity will ease any stress or tension.
