Is sea level rise dead?

Feb 19, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Washington Daily News

Lobbying by a coalition of 20 eastern North Carolina counties led to "significant changes" in a draft sea level rise policy considered by the N.C. Coastal Resources Commission, the commission's chairman acknowledged.

"“We made some significant changes to the original draft and pretty much eliminated the parts of it that were bothering people,” CRC Chairman Bob Emory told the Daily News in a recent interview."

Ohmygod! I can see! Someone give me some blinders quick!!

So a LOT of well paid lobbyists got some weak politicians to duck action again. Ho hum. Just another 'dog bites man' for page G32.

And they were only preparing for 39" by 2100?? Did anyone tell them that this is the LOW end of the scale for a forecast that ONLY includes a small fraction of the sea rise? And they killed that?

"Thompson said scientists and area officials have put their hands on evidence that global temperature fluctuations are normal and cyclical, and not caused by man’s release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Thompson pointed specifically to the work of Robert Dean, graduate research professor emeritus at the University of Florida.

Basically, Dean concluded there have been decelerations in sea level rise, citing worldwide tide gauge data, according to Thompson and research published online."

Here's the latest data from Colorado University's Sea Level Research Group

Here's Church & White's data since 1985

So that's right there hasn't been any acceleration of sea level rise in over 25 years.

The word is getting out and Drs Hansen, Rahmstorf and the rest of the kook parade can go suck eggs.

You don't have to pander to Americans by using inches, Mr Undoubtably Spelt Fourty.

Thanks for proving why you failed at science and went into engineering.
