Baltimore County police offer free gun locks
Baltimore County police said there's no excuse for gun owners to leave their weapons unsecured, and that's why the police chief is giving away free gun locks.

See, cops are not safety experts; they're safety hazards.
They type of person who would leave a gun accessible to a child won't secure it, with or without a safety lock (LOL), or especially won't bother to travel to a cop station and obtain a safety lock for it.
You can't force irresponsible people to be responsible. If cops really were concerned with people's safety they would support the total legalization of all drugs (and guns).
