We all know it's really about the 200 grand isn't it??? How about we just sell it and donate the money to the School System so they can buy some new books, regardless of who owns it. After all, it's not the "Battle of Foley", well I guess it is now!!

Interesting to note that once you are out of power how the new sharks that are now in power come after you for revenge. I guess payback is fair play in politics. Fortunately for the Holks is that they probably get a really big discount on their insurance premiums.

Yeah, but guess who they use for bait? So much for the little fish :) Anyone that's tried to get any money out of the former Mayor knows it's like trying to get Ray Charles to bowl a perfect game; just look at the downtown buildings he owns and the shape they are in as far as adding beauty to the town appearance - just give me the rent money seems to be the attitude taken. On another subject, I'm still puzzled about the City of Foley buying Dixie Furniture parcel of land and now it's for sale - they don't think we're that stupid (well some are)- they just don't care and we don't matter. I mean with real estate in such a boom market now, did they really think they could turn around and sell it for a profit? What they really did was give an old friend some taxpayer money. The "Forward City" strikes again. Where's that damn Batman when you need him - HA! Guess he's in Washington, and if so, we'll never see him anywhere else!!!!!

Another thing that I'd like to know is why Foley spent all of the money to build a sidewalk on both sides of Rt. 20 from Rt. 59 to the Foley Beach Expressway. This is definitely a "sidewalk to nowhere". It requires constant lawn cutting and edging--even though the City has done a horrible job of it thus far. I can only imagine that they put the sidewalks in as a favor for the land developers who are building something on one side at this time and the owner or developer who will build something on the other side in the future.

Don't let any liberals find out one of you made a Ray Charles comment. They will have you banned from the internet.

Having met Mr. Charles during his life, my comment would not be offensive, but humorous to him. To the rest, I really could care less about, liberal or not. They can "hit the road Jack".

The sidewalks on 20 have to do with the plan to build a new Civic Center on 20. That area will continue to grow, so sidewalks now are a lot better than doing later.

OK, when is the Civic Center going to start under construction and where will it be located? Do you know if it will be where there is all the site work going on at the intersection of Rt. 20 and the Foley Beach Expressway?

I believe it is supposed to go in the pecan field next to what used to be the Foley Events Center. Next to Gi Gi's Scrapbooking. No clue when it will start with the "recession" and all.
