Politics as usual. When this man KILLS someone I hope Judge Gillis remembers letting him out to roam in Atkinson County. Unbelievable.

This is exactly whats wrong with our justice system. For 20 years this moron has stalked his ex wife, and now this idiot judge has turned him loose. Double unbelievable.

He actually kidnapped her in the past and went to prison for it. He is obsessed with her. I can't believe what the Judge did here. He has also been ordered to wear an ankle monitor before and went to court for removing it. He could be at her house in 15 minutes and kill her. I wonder if that crossed the Judge's mind.

know how you feel, family member done the same way.Gillis has a lot to answer for in the way that he allows women and children to be kept in dangerous situations by rapists, drug traffickers, wife beaters, kidnappers.Legal documents, witnesses,DFACS,were all presented more than once and all of it was overlooked.A total stranger sitting in court made the statement to the victim leaving court," you have been done wrong".I've concluded that Gillis has no room for honesty in his court.People that know the facts are in disbelief also.

I have no problem with this. He's no threat to anyone in Atkinson County and putting him in jail only waste taxpayer's money.

Keeping a dangerous criminal like Harry Smith in jail is never a waste of taxpayer money. The Coffee County Sheriff riding him around like a pal instead of an inmate is probably what you were referring to. Victims don't get justice when the criminal is being better served than the victim. That's my 2 cents. The man deserves to be rotting in prison, AGAIN, for his criminal behavior. It's just that simple.

The article says the plea bargain was approved by his victim. She's the obsession. If she agrees with the terms, then why be concerned. If she's really scared of him, I don't think she would have agreed.

LOL, yes, we know that the victims have the ultimate say so in a court of law. Kid yourself. They are all terrified of him. Every member of the family even the men married to his girls have protection orders against him. Let him come up on one of them and I think he'll see a bullet instead of a friendly sheriff and judge next time. Do you honestly think she the wife isn't scared of him? Jesus Christ! How stupid can you be?

Every member of his family is not scared of him. Check your facts. Had the man really been interested in harming his wife, he would have harmed her in the first kidnapping. Please note the "returned unharmed after 3 days in South Carolina." If a person really wants to harm you they don't flee, they inflict harm and then flee. Society would not be served by locking this man a way.
