Are you people in Portland Texas all sick to let this piece of feces so called judge to walk around free. Would love two minutes with this judge and do what he did to his poor helpless daughter. Mother should go to jail also.

This man is not fit to be a judge especially presiding over child abuse cases. This ia criminal behavior.

This Williams Adams is certainly not worthy of being called Judge. He is not sorry for his actions. He is already making excuses. My immediate reaction to this video is this guy is a waste of human flesh, and he needs to have his a$$ handed to him in the same manner. I am thankful that this young lady has survived such abuse, as many children do not.
It may not be right, but I would have to agree with Mr.Badas....but longer than 2 minutes. This guy should be in the slammer for about 5-10 yrs with similar daily treatment. Sorry, but this kind of news really gets me.

This guy should be barred from the bench. No way should he be involved in family cases. Recall him.

The way I see it, you have a disobedient child, who is not 10 or 11, but 16 years of age. She apparently has been warned before, but continued to ILLEGALLY download content using Kazaa and her computer.

Her refusal to turn over and take it obviously excerbates the situation, and maybe both mom and dad should have cooled off a little before busting that hiney, but I don't see child abuse here, I'm sorry.

What I see is a parent, disciplining a child who has not only disobeyed the parent's instructions, but has a broken a law.

I also see that same child, who apparently still has some maturing to do, attempting to get back at her father by releasing a video that is seven years old. "I want him to get help" my ass. She wants him to suffer, and that is what she is getting.

I agree, open a child abuse investigation on the Judge, and open a felony theft investigation on the daughter. See which one gets exonerated and which one gets punished.

This is a sad business -- that such a trashy man could become a judge, let alone a family court judge. And his wife? Foul mouthed, just like her husband, and ignorant, as he is.
Is it surprising that a girl raised by such people would have scant sense of the morality of stealing a video game?
I hope Texas acts to get this man off the bench.

All these religious people in TX believe in torture and celebrate whenever someone is executed. There are so many hippocrates in your state that I am lucky not to live there.

The definitions of child abuse vary from one state to another, but very few judges are willing to jail parents simply because they use a belt to discipline their child.

Did the whipping leave deep bruises that lasted for days? Whelps? Cuts? If it didn't, then chances are, as bad as all you seem to think this looked, this parent would never even be charged.

A wide belt is less likely to cause injury than a narrow one, and a thick belt is less likely to cause injury than a thin one.

Personally, I am appalled at the number of people who accept this video as prima facia evidence child abuse and automatically side with the child.

You know, you all seem to conviently ignore the fact that this video starts out with a discussion about her disobeying, and her admitting to having done what she was accused of.

She knows the whipping is coming, that is why she hid the video camera and turned it on. Obvioulsy she knew, within her own household, that she had broken the rules and was going to be punished.

I find it hard to believe that her motive for making and later releasing this video tape was as innocent and unselfish as she claims it to be.

I don't disagree that he should have backed off and calmed down before whipping her. I also don't disagree that he may gone beyond the boundaries of decency. But, I do not think, at least under the laws of my state, that what occured here wold be child abuse, and if it is, it certainly isn't a felony.

Truth be told there are lots of people on here who at some point in time in their lives took a similar disciplining from their parents, and they are none the worse for wear. Her hang-ups are just that, her hang-ups. It is obvious she has some issue she hasn't worked through, because if she had, she either wouldn't have released this tape at all, or she would have released it years ago.

For those that don't care for Texas' laws - fine, don't come here. For those who don't see the big picture, just know that a belt is more pleasant than razor wire (that's what REAL prisons surround the buildings with). For those who have never had a child steal, we're not interested in your opinions. For parents who have had similar circumstances, we sympathize. For the youth of this country who ignore the laws and standards of this society, beware.

What a pathetic excuse for a man let alone a judge!
I don't find any redeeming qualities in mom either.
Is he a sadist getting sexual gratification from this or just a mean bully? The prisons are full of
people who were treated this way as children and grew up to take out their anger on society. I wish
they would all take it out on their abusers and
leave the rest of us alone. I often wonder how many
parents treated their children this way and then
complain when they have no relationships with them
as adults. They grow old to die alone and wonder why. I think God probably has something special in mind for people like this.

Too bad the statue of limitations ran out. I guess they dndt want the child support to stop. This guy needs help. He must be a drunk or something. I think the mom took the belt so the dad would stop beating this child.
