My wife and my self both think Andrews needs all the help it can get and selling beer could help the cash flow, attract hotels that can have a lounge , Rodeo's could come here but most cowboys don't want to compete here and have to bring a beer with them or drive 22 miles one way. A dance hall converted from being a truck stop , may not do all that well unless they could serve drinks of some sort.Andrews has "Clubs" by membership but they have beer and mixed drinks and they are in the same "DRY"county. I don't guess any one has a problem with the "Andrews Country Club" ? or the other "clubs" .The dry county to be so dry seems to have a lot of beer cans the wind blew into town.
I didn't see Hobbs doing so bad after they changed their laws and got business to grow. Either way buy out of county , and bring it back. Or buy at home , shop at home Lets get a wallmart or at least have a city that can draw intrest from investers. The town can grow and be "on the map".

George,You posted "I didn't see Hobbs doing so bad after they changed their laws and got business to grow."
I believe Hobbs is in the top 10 crime infested towns in the U.S. per capita.

Crime is actually good for business just like liquor sales is. Keeps the lawmen busy, attorneys and judges, bailbondsmen. It is actually good for the economy.

I believe that andrews needs to become a wet county. If for only one reason, besides the others mentioned above. The people who want to keep andrews dry have signs that say stop D.W.I keep andrews dry. A drunk is gonna drive to go get it anyways. I would rather have a drunk drive 5 miles tops round trip in town not exceeding 45 mph, Than have them drive 44 miles round trip going 75-65 mph. Besides, the line is expensive just like porter's. We need a walmart also.

I do not even drink alcohol, however, there always seems to be an issue around here about freedom of choice. That is why we are called America .Remember the young lady Crista, she was killed on the hwy. out of the city.As you may remember, the drunk driver was from here but had gone to the county line after he had already been drinking.May be that if for some of the problem drinkers,if they were close to stores here which sold alcohol they might walk instead of drive a car. But,for the fact that it is not available,it is a 100% given that they will drive if they want to obtain their drug of choice
