FORT WAYNE, Ind.(AP)— A missing 9-year-old Indiana girl has been found dead, and the family friend who was watching her before she disappeared was charged with murder Monday night, authorities said.

Allen County sheriff's spokesman Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel said investigators found the body of Aliahna Lemmon in the county, but he wouldn't say where. He also said 39-year-old Mike Plumadore was "interviewed by police and taken into custody at 9 p.m. and charged with murder."

Plumadore, who had been watching Aliahna and her sisters before she was reported missing late Friday, is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

FBI agents earlier Monday descended on the rundown mobile home park in Fort Wayne where Aliahna lived and was last seen. It's a known haven for registered sex offenders, though Plumadore is not on Indiana's registered sex offenders list. He has a criminal record in Florida and North Carolina that includes convictions for trespassing and assault.

According to a state website, 15 registered sex offenders live at the mobile home park that numbers about two dozen homes.

More than 100 emergency workers searched for Aliahna around the mobile home park Saturday, though no active search was done Sunday. Tinkel said the same size search could not be sustained because of the Christmas holiday.

I just watched this last night, now I wake to learn she's deceased ! My heavens, something has to stop this from happening to innocent childrem.

One thing to be greatful for, is she was found fast, thank God he stopped w/killing her, and not the siblings too.

I am hoping to hear he will get LWOP. I'm assuming this wasn't his first encounter w/ abusing a child. These kind of ppl can NOT be fixed , and once their slapped on the wrist a few times their wants, and needs overpower what is right from wrong. Not , that they know no better they just don't care, we all see what 95% end up doing when turned back into society.
You can'r fix evill, it darn sure is an act of evil to hatm, murdera child.

God rest your little soul baby girl.
So sad, heartbreaking ;(

It's about time some of these parents wake up and quit leaving their kids with people who harm them. I don't care if the mother was sick or not or if the live in/step father worked nights and had to sleep days either. These kids were her responsibility and not some kooked out neighbors. Didn't she leave them with him all week, claiming flu? enough is enough and no one's fault but the mother's. So what if she was sick. Many a sick mother still takes care of her children and doesn't pawn them off onto some 38 yr. old wierdo living in the same trailer park. The mentality of some people just makes me sick now days!

@Rider......so you start this thread out spewing ridiculous conspiracy BS about lunatics like Cathy O'Brien who claims to have been programmed by a ventriloquist dummy.....suggesting that this poor little girl was a victim of such foolishness....then you post the REAL story which totally disproves your delusions....beautiful.

That's the truth!!! Where was the real dad in this case? I don't give a rat's rear if mom was "sick" and stepdad had to work nights and sleep. These kids were both of their responsibilities, and you don't leave little girls with some lunatic that already has a criminal record to begin with, and,no woman in the home.I know a woman is no guarantee there won't be problems (look at Casey Anthony) but, leaving them with a dude like this, and nobody else around is just asking for it.
I hope they beat the H*** out of him in prison on a regular (try hourly) basis.
And as for the "life in prison," I'm SAD to hear he'd get something that easy personally.
