hourly salaries could be a lot better. Its very unfair that these companies bring in big bucks but only want to start your pay rate at about $8.00 per hour. Then, you have these apartments renting out for about $750.00 and usually more per month. You do the math. You just cant afford to live in Albemarle County. Not only Albemarle, but everywhere, the cost of living is way too expensive VS.the salary. No wonder so many people have to turn to public assistance.

Basic wage and service industry jobs were not intended to support a family of four which a lot of people think. The solution is not to go on assistance but do what you need to do to get a better job.

We live in paradise compared to the rest of the world and a lot of this country. Be thankful for what you have.

That's easy to do when you're working three part time temp jobs. Why didn't they think of that? 90% of US Americans are earning less than what they did 30 years ago, and the economy has doubled.

376 respondents...well I guess that's as good as it gets....and as far as the local economy goes charlottesville and albemarle for obvious reasons have always been insulated from the real world economic conditions....if you want to see the real world just drive to greene, fluvanna, and buckingham counties....

The fact that some people don't understand probability sampling is not a good basis for critique.

Read the methodology section, and then provide 1) a critique and 2) a more appropriate way to gain a representative sample.

Professional survey methodologies have a long history of success.
