1) Lt. Ronnie Roberts of the Charlottesville Police Department believes the reason for the increase in DUIs is because now that the holidays are over, there are fewer ad campaigns and strike force initiatives.

2) "Those who make improper decisions to drive while under the influence of alcohol, we begin to see them back out on the highways. They are back to some of there usual driving habits, going out socializing and having a little to much to drink," said Roberts.

3) In Albemarle County, four DUI arrests were made on Saturday night alone. Sargent Darrell Byers says one arrest was the result of a single-vehicle crash on Greenfield Lane in Albemarle County. There were no injuries from the collision.

4) Byers tells CBS19 the rate of DUI arrests is rising at an alarming rate in Albemarle County. He says from January 2011 to January 2012 there has been a 150 percent increase in the number of DUI arrests.

1) LOL, the federal government should print more money to pay the overtime for the DUI strick force initiatives so that federal debt can be so large the taxpayer's grand children can barely work two jobs to merely service the interest on such a thing, LOL.

2) There's little doubt that people will socialize, maybe the answer is better transportation services for people who do drink in taverns so they won't have to drink and drive.

3) 60% of traffic fatalities are the result of single vehicle crashes regardless of alcohol relationship. Maybe the real problem is drivers who don't know how to drive?

4) DUI arrests increasing is an alarming trend? Easy answer to that, simply lay off some cops and that number will stabilize or decrease immediately, LOL! But seriously, if DUI punishment increases, it causes more people to fight their cases in court which brings more risk of losing cases in court due to police negligence or the basic fact of more expenses due to trial costs carried onto the public.
