What does the above list mean? All are companies that either shut down or had layoffs of some sort in this area within the past 24 months. This is by no means a complete list.

I have many casual acquaintances, four close personal friends and two immediate family members living in this area who lost their career jobs (using that term as all had worked for their companies at least 6 years) in the past two years due to closings and downsizings. I have never in my life known so many people who lost jobs in such a short period of time. Sure, there are plenty of jobs in Cville if you can feed your family on less than 25k per year. Anything above that; good luck, especially if you're over 45.

You are a libtard moron who has clearly been blinded by the crack oratorial teleprompter-reading skills of His Holiness, the Immaculated One, the Omniptent, Barack Hussein-as-salaam-alaikum Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm.

Maybe if they hadn't laid off over 100 people last year then they wouldn't have this problem. Then, to top if all off, they have made most of their current employees work 10 plus hours in mandatory overtime. Why don't you call the people you fired and offer them a position again?

The worst part is most of the people who were laid of was because of them missing time from work. One lady had cancer and didn't have enough paid time off for her appointments, so they let her go and she lost her health benefits....

Maybe they should worry more about their employees and less about their customers

I HAVE WORKED FOR STATE FARM FOR 20+YEARS --THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAY-OFFS AND TERMINATION. PEOPLE THAT WERE TERMINATED RECEIVED MANY WARNINGS AND IT DEFINITELY DIDN'T COME AS A SURPRISE--AS FAR AS LAY-OFFS--WHO GOT LAID OFF??? I KNOW DEPARTMENTS THAT MOVED AND EMPLOYEES GOT PUT IN OTHER POSITIONS---KNOW THE FACTS BEFORE YOU PUT THE COMPANY DOWN BECAUSE STATE FARM IS A GREAT COMPANY

Why don't you give us some objective reasons and data to support that irritatingly capitalized post?

CIOS is not closing-that deparment moved to another location--those employees were given first choices to be placed in other jobs and they were unless they chose to terminate or retire.

I don't need to provide any objective reasons and certainly not any data. I voiced my opinion as an employee and as far as your irritation goes--get OVER IT:) If you are interested in working with the company-followup with a HR representative and I am sure they can give you exactly what you are looking for.
