It's hard for children to get their basics when they are thrown into kindergarden too early or admin/parents won't hold a child back and repeat kindergarten over. The maturity just isn't there. Instead they are moved along because their self-esteem may be hurt.
Additionally, those kids who are ready to advance due to superior performance are forced to be held back while the rest of their classmates catch up.

And to add to other woes, AYP depends on passing scores that continue to rise, while VA changes the math test and scores appear to be decreasing. I see it as another way to criticize teachers.

When communities have to beg for money to teach children what can you expect? Thank goodness I went to school where I did. No expence was spared and only the best teachers needed to apply. It paid off for us students. Interesting that this school I attended is located in Skokie Ill.
I'm sorry, but I just can't resist: did they teach spelling in Skokie?

its sad that they kids goin to school and have to pass a test to get there diplomas we going to see alot of bad changes in this kids.
It's sadder when somebody comes out of high school with a diploma, but no ability to spell, write, or do even simple math. It makes the diploma meaningless, and dooms the student to a lifetime of menial work. You might as well recognize in middle school that you are going nowhere and save the community the expense of putting you through school at all.

I couldn't tell if ‘felicia’ was being facetious. The name was suspect.

If she was, then she pulled it off perfectly. It seemed to be a heartfelt but poorly written argument against goals, standards, performance, ability, etc. She may be making a point, and she may be a couple of moves ahead of me...I don't think so.

How about grammar: it's "we students", not "us students".
