There's plenty of other people out here that need a $15,000 handout more than this kid!!! He's not getting a dime from me

If the record company is reputable they are not going to charge him $15,000 up front to make a CD?? Sounds like someones trying to scam him to me!

There are a number of websites (kickstarter, for ex) that artists short of cash can use to raise $ for projects. I got several requests through faceBook recently, including from a local, touring ( and presumably already successful) band. Personally, I think it's presumptuous.

It could be argued that this kid works a job to save up until he's ready, or try to hit it all at once on YouTube like Bieber or Greyson Chance, but if he has fans, they may choose to help him make his art or his dream.

If he was 10 years old, it might be appropriate fodder for the local newspapers; otherwise, what about all the other young local wannabes that have talent?
can you say sorry

Any Record company in the business that thinks you have what it takes will not wait for you to come up with the money. They are going to record you and push in the front lines as hard as they can. This kid is getting off on the wrong track, with the wrong record company. Nashville has thousands of kids playing all the local clubs and talent shows down there and and 95% of them will never make it. Get with a more advanced record company that will help you make it , not one that will put you in debt trying to record a CD.

$15,000 could buy a lot of food for hungry children in our area. He has a "dream", children being hungry is a reality. If he really wants $15,000, he should work and save it up like the rest of us. This is a very selfish request from him.

And I need help buying food and paying my rent, but you don't see me asking for a handout. I work for my money and he should too!! That's the trouble with kids these days, they don't want to work, but want the world handed to them gift wrapped. Reality check kid. GET A JOB!!! Mom is no better. She should be making him work to get what he wants, but she probably is just seeing dollar signs.

I'm surprised this hasn't been tried with college tuition. Sponsors could get a signed copy of your diploma, suitable for framing, an 8 x 10 of you at the Rathskellar during finals week, or playing golf with other doctors.

You might offer to pay it forward by dedicating the first 5 years of service to the communitay and save yourself the hardship of student loans. I'm not so sure because it's music, it makes it o.k.

How on earth does this show liberal bias???

I agree with the others, this is a ridiculous show of greed. If you want the money, Cody, go get a job like both of my kids did. Stop grubbing for it. People have real needs, for housing, food, clothing. Chasing a pipe dream isn't a need. If you were that good, the record companies would be covering your expenses.

So if you want to raise money, open a stock company and sell stock certificates.

Glad to see that this news hit a nerve with others as it did with me. Channel 29 should - once again - be ashamed of themselves. With all the needy people and causes out there, they feature this? What a bunch of baloney.

All of you people are a selfish lot! We will be taking away all of the money you sucked from grants, financial aid, social services, etc and you will be required to pay it all back. Take that Headstart program and do away with it, stop funding those poor disadvantaged and disenfranchised children, stop funding this poor kid's college aspirations, in fact, stop it all!!

There are a lot of people here that do have what he doesnt have either: money from working and the ambition to do it themselves.

Just like always people want to comment about something they know absolutely nothing about. I did help Cody, and will help anyone else you may need it. I would rather give my money to someone who is trying to do something with their life then someone who is sitting back on their rear with their hand stretched out. Don't be so negative. That is what is wrong with the world now.

Cody does have a job. Plus he goes to school....I think as a teenager he is going for alot in life and not like the kids on the street in gangs and getting in trouble. We need a lot more teenagers like him around!
