A family lost their home -- and 2 pets, which was not reported in this story -- and you're making jokes about the picture? These folks are my neighbors, and luckily the community is rallying around them to help them tonight, not making jokes at their expense. You're pathetic if you feel the need to take any opportunity to make a snarky comment regardless of the situation.

Everyone has a role in putting out a fire. It doesn't take 100 personnel to man the hose, fyi. Consider taking a class in the Fire Academy to learn more!

Ok buddy lets see you put on between 40 to 60lbs of gears and equipment and crawl into a structure that is on fire with temperatures of at least 300 degrees. And don't forget the fire you see is not really the dangerous part it's what you can't see that will injure or kill you. Next time you want to take cheap shots take them at people like yourself who make comments thinking they're experts when they have no clue.

How many minutes did it take for fire crews to arrive? The county's talking head always told us how many minutes it them to arrive. Is that not as important now that the purse strings are loosened?

According to my neighbor who lives across the street from them, it took only 5 minutes for the first crew to arrive, and there were 6 trucks in all. Some children playing in the court saw the smoke coming from the roof and alerted their parents. By then, it was already too late, since the fire started in the basement and worked its way up. I didn't see it happening, but neighbors said the windows were melting as they watched. It was a very dangerous situation for the firefighters, and the home will have to be completely rebuilt. They have lost everything.

Jeez, could everyone shut up? The board reads like 12 year old arguing about pro wrestlers.

No need for everyone write a dozen page long reports in response to two doofuss bad jokes.

Some of you are being really mean, the girl is my really good friend. How about you stop making fun of the firefighters and have some empathy. Imagine that you just lost everything in a fire, how would you feel? You people make me sick.

They probably WERE tired, JERK! If my house was going to catch fire I'd want it to happen in Crozet, those firefighters are pretty awesome. They work hard to save life and property!

These men and women are community volunteers. When you are rooted in the community and you know there's a good chance you know the victim, you tend to move pretty fast.

I agree, nice job Crozet FD!
