I think that it is too soon to judge.. If you were not there then you don't know what happened. Media has made this into something that it really wasn't, the only bench that was cleared was monticello and the chs players that were on the court were the ones on the court during the game. Parent of chs player and a parent of monticello did go out on the court. No students for CHS ever went on the court, they were in fact all behind a barrier that was in place behind monticello bench that was there during the game. Yes fans on both sides were outraged and yes the guy did throw an elbow, but the incident that made the game be over was not related to the elbow. We need to get all these facts straight before we judge, it will all come out

"Too soon to judge?" You were definitely NOT there, or you stuck your head somewhere dark during the incident.

The photo seems to show at least 4 fans/parents on the floor.

Denise is right. The night before a Monticello basketball player made rude and inappropriate comments about CHS players on Facebook. That was the start of the problems. The thrown elbow was dealt with by the officials. It happened at least 10 minutes before the incident. Please deal with facts and not fiction when reporting this event.

though I feel there some very obvious fouls against monticello. there still was no sence in what transpired. before the western game they reminded the fans about sportsmanship. didn't hear last night, students section booed charlottesville as they entered the floor. This problem started on an internet chat sight, ie FB, esclated throughtout the day, that shouldn't be allowed perticulary amoung the players. I think both team should not be allowed to partiicipate in the up coming district tournament. I don't see how either school can ignore this. The problem started with the players. If they face each other in the tournament, you think they can behave, not likely

Yes too soon to Judge CHS as everyone always want to do, and no my head was not stuck somehere in the dark, I was actually surprised as to what was going on, on the floor. I knew the game would be intense but never did I think it would get to a point where it would have to be stopped. Kids are going to trash talk each other, that has been going on for years, but some just know how to take it to another level and that is where we have the problems. One media reported possibility of charges being file, that puzzles me...

What a shame! Whatever happened to "Let there be peace and let it begin with me" or "Do unto others...." Our society is sick and our children are not learning the right lessons. I hope that there are consequences here.

I certainly agree that the media tends to blow things out or proportion - like this. But there was some very definite thuggish behavior at this game - from spectators and parents.

I mean really. Is this surprising? This kind of thing went on long before the media hype. We used to clear benches fairly often back in the 70s. Problem nowadays is these fools will probably settle it with guns in a couple weeks.

Oh I see, someone disrespected someone else on Facebook and they had to be dealt with. Discipline thugish behavior no matter who did it, and send a message now.

I agree there was bad behavior, but what I want everyone to understand is that it was on both sides, not just chs as people always tend for it to be.

All I can say is it crazy now a days with kids when we played sports it was never like this. It's awful that our youth is so full of hate and rage humm wonder where they are learning it from? School and sports are suppose to be a fun place to go and have the time of your life while learning but those days are long gone now you have to worry about someone shooting you because you look at them just passing in the hall or you get beat up because you are not like everyone else its a shame!!! We as parents need to make a change in our kids or its only going to get worse sad sad sad

Not surprised. My son was threatened during a basketball game against CHS. Reported to "authorities" and nothing happened. It is no wonder that this bad behavior continues.

No surprise on either side there... I've seen it happen too many times over the years. Although CHS has had a bad reputation for sportsmanship over the years, MHS is no better.

It is too bad Arthur Fonzarelli was not there to snap his fingers and put these kids in their place.

Is anyone really surprised at this? What they should do in situations like this (assuming players were guilty) is to have the two teams--whenever they play again--play in an empty gym. The players, coaches, referees and a few cops...that's it. Or they can be booted from the league altogether. Their choice.
