"we need outstanding assets like the Albany Institute of History & Art and the Shaker Heritage site to bring tourists here and to make us attractive to people coming to Tech Valley from Texas, California and Japan."

Are you people high? Look, I've lived in Albany most of my life, and I like it, but it's a dull town.

We're not going to trick anybody into thinking that this area is intersting, because it's not.

Albany is boring for the followig reasons:

1. We only have six nice months out of the year
2. We have no major (and only one minor)sports team
3. Downtown is mostly ghetto
4. The airport is 30 miles from the the train
5. We have no subway system, only smelly buses
6. We have no casinos
7. We have no high-end strip-clubs
8. We built a highway in front of our river

In fact, our city-motto should read:

"Albany...A nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there".

You think that Japanese executives are going to see the Museum of History and Art and get all excited? Get real!

And, exactly what "assets" does Albany possess that would interest people from real cities?

Well, we have eight or ten college bars filled with obnoxious SUNYA dickheads and slutty gals.

We have a couple of tiny community-grade theaters, where the out-of-towners can catch the third-string cast of a Broadway show.

We have an inconvenient, slow, and uncomfortable bus-line on which no human should ever have to ride.

Visitors can take a ride on the Aqua Duck and thrill to the sights of...well, I'm sure that they drive by something interesting...

Visit any one of our shopping-centers and see such unique stores as "The Gap", JC Penney, Macy's, and Abercrombie and Fitch.

Drop by the North End of Albany and see an authentic abandoned slaugherhouse and meat-packing plant.

Yes, Albany truly has it all.

Some people like snow.
Not everyone likes organized sports and we have nice lakes.
Ghettos are in every city.
Good exercise is healthy, walk.
Casinos, great idea.
There are many nice clubs etc. that don't involve stripping in and around Albany. I'm a belly dancer, I know this.
Well, it can be fun watching cars hit the water. Just kidding.
Yep, the town needs improvements but what city doesn't ? I've seen worse,I've seen better. The best city on earth is Amsterdam. If we could only legalize weed and turn Albany into Amsterdam..........

I agree...but people aren't going to sit around their kitchen table, trying to find a vacation-spot and think "Screw Disney World, Albany has some nice lakes".

Probably not unless they love water sports and hate long lines. We need casinos and other "sinful " amusements since it's not likely Disney will
put an amusement park here. I hate f**king theme parks but that's just me.

Did you forget how to spell your own name, or is there really a "1" in it?

Are you Greg, Peter, or Bobby?

Truth is, Albany don't have much going for it... and it won't until it takes care of its negro problem.
