I actually noticed some mail trucks delivering mail on Christmas Day.
Was this due to the accident by chance? I was surprised to see delivery on Christmas Day.

I believe due the increase in letters and packages the USPS tries to deliver as much of the mail as possible before Christmas. Although I have never seen the USPS in action on a Christmas day for myself, I have heard that this is done.

I'm not sure what the exact reasoning is behind the decision to deliver on Christmas day, whether it is simply because of the increase in mail traffic this time of year, or if the weather experienced by the area the weekend before had something to do with it. However the accident mentioned in the news story took place this morning and would not have had an impact on the Christmas day mail delivery decision.

Not sure but I can imagine delivering for the USPS on Christmas day has some sweet overtime benefits.

The Postal Service delivers Express, Priority and anything that looks to be a Christmas present on Christmas day. NO EXTRA CHARGE. Bet you wouldn't see that from UPS, FEDEX or any other delivery service. USPS IS THE BEST!!!!!!

If this was a Mail contractor truck im surprise it didnt happen any sooner.I hope the driver is alright but the company in greensboro REALLY need to up grade their fleet. And some drivers need to learn to obey all driving laws.Especially at 5am on 40 and wendover

If the story were updated from time-to-time you would know that the driver suffered a minor stroke and that his speed and the quality of the equipment had nothing to do with the accident.
