That sounds like a real good idea, a lie detector test would cost the taxpayers a lot less money and maybe a few more girls would be less inclined to lie about such things as their age and other pertinent facts.

Gotta say guys, Alamance Co. is where my ex (who did not revel this info to me until his PO knocked on my door) took "Indecent Liberties" with a 13 year old when he was 22. Once I found all of this out and checked it out, he did not spend one night in jail, was ordered to counseling and probation, and had to register as a sex offender for 10 years. That was ALL he got. He was tested in counseling and reccommended that he never be alone with or in the same household as young girls. His probation was termed on the promise that he complete counseling..and as soon as it was he quit. He went on to marry twice, both new wives with young children in the home. I reported it, nothing. He moved to several place in Burlington and Graham and did not register. I reported it, nothing. He served his 10 years on the registry, and was let off the registry. I am not impressed with Alamance County's slack treatment of this and imagine that his is not the only case like it.

Per Chapter 14

Article 7A. Rape and Other Sex Offenses

14-27.5. Second-degree sexual offense

a) A person is guilty of a sexual offense in the second degree if the person engages in a sexual act with another person:

(2) Who is mentally disabled, mentally incapacitated, or physically helpless, and the person performing the act knows or should reasonably know that the other person is mentally disabled, mentally incapacitated, or physically helpless.

(b) Any person who commits the offense defined in this section is guilty of a Class C felony

And the statute for sexual battery

14-27.5A. Sexual battery

(a) A person is guilty of sexual battery if the person, for the purpose of sexual arousal, sexual gratification, or sexual abuse, engages in sexual contact with another person:

(1) By force and against the will of the other person; or

(2) Who is mentally disabled, mentally incapacitated, or physically helpless, and the person performing the act knows or should reasonably know that the other person is mentally disabled, mentally incapacitated, or physically helpless.

(b) Any person who commits the offense defined in this section is guilty of a Class A1 misdemeanor.

Forgive me here but all I can say is at least Alamance County takes these kinds of charges seriously unlike another County in our area that doesn't.

With that being said, we have only been given minimal information on this but for an arrest to have been made, the DA in this county had the proper evidence they felt they needed to make an arrest.

I can say that I pray for both families involved because there is a high amount of emotions running on both sides right now and it will be a long battle and healing process for all.

Just my thoughts, LG
Not if the child is in state custody. At this point, even when the perp is arrested, Alamance sweeps the crime under the rug and tries to find fault with the victim I instead of the prep. Lots of mishandled cases in Alamance. Multitudes of perps walking the streets in this county, especially in cases where the child is poor and the prep has any influence or is a friend of someone in power.
