Hey hopefully this will work, the chipset in HDX machines is intel so I'm assuming this XP driver will be compatible, try it @ http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.a... << Driver for Sigmatel IDT 92XX on intel chipsets....

Hey there!

I've managed to install XP with 99% of the drivers installed, only one quirk and that's no internal sound, but external jacks at the back and front work (including 5.1 / 7.1 surround) and as i already had 5.1 speakers connected not a problem for me, also strangely enough my sound is better than before, it seems tighter and clearer!

I also managed to get fingerprint and free media centre software :) If anyone is still struggling I can package all the drivers, software and instructions up in a zip file for download, e-mail me [email protected] and I'll provide the download link :)

All the best!!:)

p.s. HP reckon that they're 'working on' providing drivers for XP for the machine, yeah right...

Can you please prepare the driver package for HDX and post it somewhere for download?

Hey guys, go to my website,

http://jonnybrady.com/hphdx/index.php

You can download the drivers there and please leave any feedback for others or myself.

IMPORTANT: I REALLY RECOMMEND INSTALLING XP SERVICE PACK '3' BEFORE INSTALLING ANY DRIVERS AS IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY INSTALL SOME OF THE MISSING DRIVERS AND PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR HD AUDIO AND UAA.

I have included a utility to modify the XP installation so that it will recognise the internal hard drives, so you can install XP, you'll need your original XP installation disc and a blank cd-r. The hard disc 'F6' drivers are located in a self explanitory folder in the drivers.zip file download.

Please note the sound drivers made all of the audio jacks work, but not the internal speakers, I'm working on this problem now. However you can get full 7.1 surround (if you have 7.1 speakers, stereo and 5.1 works just fine too):o) oh and you need to use the IDT control panel and disable 'Optimize Bass Routing' otherwise your bass will sound muted somewhat, other than that the sound quality is amazing!

I have included a modded version of the ATI driver for all the people with Radeon Mobility 2600XT cards.

In the package download there is also some free open source media centre software so you can use your TV Card, you might wanna support the guys who make the software if you like it, it's pretty good for a free product, very much like windows media centre.

After installing all the drivers you will notice that there are 4 unknown devices in the device manager, from what i can gather from their hardware ID's they're just unrecognised quick launch buttons (dvd, tv, eject and one other).

Anyways guys I hope you manage to get XP on your machines successfully! Also I'm bugging HP to get them to officially support XP on the HDX range of laptops! I suggest you guys do the same as well and maybe HP will cave under the pressure... we can dream...

All the Best!

Jonny!

Jonny, are the drivers in your zip file for x86 or x64 windows? If it's for x86, do you know of any for x64?

Hi Jonny, Thanks for the Zip file. I got the internal speaker working by:
1) uninstall the IDT sound driver(the one that in your Zip file).
2) download the sp36420 from hp.
3) Run it to create the SWsetup\sp36420 directroy.
4) update the two yellow ? sound device by pointing the driver at the SWsetup\sp36420\wdm directory.

I stll have 4 unknow devices. Everything seems working fine. I think I'll leave it at that.

Thanks.

Hey guys, I've updated the drivers link down to http://www.jonnybrady.com/hphdx ... the server i'm using is a bit rubbish so you may need to use a download manager to get the file as the server may cut the download off half way through, find a download manager at http://www.download.com then copy the link from my page and paste it into the download manager and hopefully all being well the download should complete successfully!:o)

UPDATE: I've finally had a reply from the CEO customer relation team at HP head office on the driver issues! They say they have esclatated the issue and hope to have it sorted out quickly, they also gave me a phone number to call if I wanted to discuss the issue further! Progress?? Maybe...

Hey, if anyone can help, I cannot get any sound at all: not internal of external. All i need is external. When I attempt to run the Microsoft HD Audio Driver.exe, I get an error message :

Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying.

There is no need to install this update.

I have tried uninstalling all sound drivers but still get this message.
