With -most- HP laptops, you can go to HPs site and type in the base model and CTO (means Custom To Order) and get all the drivers for every OS that the laptop shipped with.

For instance, I have a DV6355, and I downgraded the laptop very successfully about a month ago. I got my drivers at this address: ;

The only time this doesn't work is when the laptop shipped with either an Intel or an AMD chipset. In that case, I usually look for a model number a few below mine. For instance, some of the drivers I needed, I found on the DV6155 CTO driver site.

I also have an HP model dv6338se laptop with Service Pack 3. It has no sound and a few other problems. I've managed to fix most of the difficulties, but don't know which drivers I have downloaded that are working on my system, and which ones are just in there somewhere doing nothing. I'd like to know the working drivers I have in my system in case I need to reinstall at some later date. How do I find all these drivers.

In device manager, I have a "?" under IDE ATAPI CONTROLLERS that says I am missing a RICOH SD/MMC HOST CONTROLLER. I have tried the Ricoh 5 in 1 card reader, but this doesn't work.

Somewhere on one of these threads I read that the UAA driver had to be installed first before the Conexant drivers for sound problems. Do I uninstall these and start over. If so, exactly which ones do I unistall and reinstall, I'd hate to reinstall XP all over again fand start from scratch.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to post your help.

I need to find the audio drivers for the same laptop. Several times we've installed audio drivers, but this laptop still won't read the audio device. Can you tell me where you went and what order you installed them
