HP replaced my POS ZD7000 with this other POS ZD800. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent on the phone with HP to get both POS fixed. I would love to take them to court.

Oh my God,
I guess misery loves company cause I am enjoying the fact that I'm not alone in this.
In fact I just put a new battery in and it will not charge at all.

I just replaced the HD and it took 6 hrs to reinstall Windows. I had to do it myself because the Tech guys said I needed a Motherboard and somehow I felt they were wrong.

Put me on the list for the Class Action.

I also have a zd8000 (8205us) and have already replaced the charger and the battery. Shows 100% charged, but will only run for a couple of minutes with the laptop unplugged. If I shut it off with 100% showing, unplug it, and turn it on, it won't even get to the login screen. Very disappointed with this laptop. I bought three of them at the same time and gave 2 away to colleagues. I don't know what type of problems they are having, as I have since moved away. If there is a lawsuit at some time, please contact me.

I turned on my zd8000 this morning it beeped at me! How dare it beep at me! I said why did you beep at me? All it did for the rest of my frustrating morning was listen to her Hand she kept flashing in my face. The message she kept flashing me basically said...I don't know what ur stoop*d a$$ did with my battery cuz this aint the right one. You aint getting into this beautiful body of mine until you give me back MY battery.

Error Message said that it does not recognize the current battery. Therefore we will shut this computer down to prevent a system failure from occuring. Change the battery, now!

I called tech support and the techie confidently replied, oh yeah thats your motherboard battery. You need to replace it.

Am I wasting time on getting the motherboard battery replaced? Should I just go ahead and get a new mother board? Oh and I forgot to mention that I also bought a new battery that will probably die 2 weeks after I get it.

I have finals coming up with research locked away on my computer.

Sign me up for the Class Action.

I am definitely fedup with HP and their lack of "support" for all the issues I've had to deal with since I first got my zd8000 about 3 years ago. Sad thing is in that 3 years I've probably only used it for a total of a year as well as shelled out at least $500 in replacement parts in addition to my original purchase price of close to $3k. This is getting really frustrating. I have replaced my batteries 3 times in less than 2 months. This is ridicuous. Contact me as well if thereis a civil action lawsuit.

I'm sure someone else has had the VGA issues with the ZD8000 as well (where any type of mid to heavey graphics will make it just shut down). Anyone know if this is caused due to mobo circutry, the video card itself, or the shitty cooling system? I really dont want to sink money into that POS but im sick of having it as a paper weight.

I deal with HP at work and they seem pretty keen on catering to business needs when it comes to defects in products. However, it's rediculous with the amount of problems this model has that they will do nothing.

Yep, this laptop sucks... Although quite impressive looking, it heats up faster than an oven and eats batteries for lunch...

I no longer trust my data to stay on it... I will stay of HP laptops for a couple of years at least. Count me in for a lawsuit too...

This POS took my money, my data and my time. How long do we have to waite before we can sue HP. it's not like theses lap tops whrer 1K. We need to sue and get something out of the,because they got out money.

My computer will not stay on for more then 20 min I have had to replace the power cord and now HP is telling me I need to pay them $400 to change the ati video card.

Some one please help us!!!!

They just settled a lawsuit over the motherboard and graphics cards in the zd7000 series and the problems you've described sound pretty similar to what I was experiencing... Unfortunately it's already over, but you might want to check out the lawyers' website for more info...

renkertd@juno.com - I have had a zd8000 for 3 yrs , it does heat up fast, and only way i was able to control it was with a usb 2 fan cooling system under the laptop. Keeps it cool so does not overheat. When i use the batt charger with batt attached , the power supply gets really hot - so i mostly use it without the batt installed , just on the ac adapter - seems to heat up , but is not unreasonably hot . When i use it on the battery , seems to last at least 2 hours . If there is a class action , please inform me. tks

I Google "zd8000 screen failure" and got this forum. I'm shocked that there were hundreds -- or thousands?!-- of other folks in the same boat. Thanks to Stevos758 for the link, I will post my story on the Hpverticalline.com site and encourage everyone else to do the same. Search for my username.

its weird that you guys are having so much problems with it. I bought mine 2 years ago used and it is still doing good. The only thing that i had to replace was the battery. Over these 2 years i have been using it very intensively almost everyday to either do my projects on photoshop or catia or play counterstrike. Sure it runs hot, but a cooling pad from ebay for 10 bucks will fix that.

I have the same problems everyone else is discussing. Computer overheats and turns off, screen has vertical lines, computer slower than molases, key pad sticks, and it's out of warrantee.
