Who believes all the incentive money will be repaid?
I have serious doubts, to say the least.

Here's a thought for the mayor... Take that $500,000 in property taxes and distribute it evenly amoung the 900 unemployed familes. I'm sure they'll all sleep much better getting a whopping $555 each. Your tax dollars at work for a multi-billion dollar company the has absolutley no loyalty to the people. Great job, mayor!

Corporations have ZERO loyalty or concern for people or their families.
It's a bottom line world with GREED at the top of the list.

I would love to find out the salaries and incentives, and bonuses the upper management of this company have and will receive after the utter failure of this project.

Now THAT is a news story.

You may want to do some more investigating the real reason Dell is leaving! They have actually moved to a plant in MEXICO. They will still continue to make desktop computers. Although the demand for desktops has declined in recent years, there is still is a damand!

I there any truth to the rumor that Dell employees were not permitted to talk to the media and if they did they would lose all of their severence package. But it is a shame and alot of people will be out of work soon.

We hear a lot about what the city and county are getting back as far as money and land, what about the people who work in that plant, the ones that gave their heart and soul to Dell for the last 4 years. What are they getting? I think they should get part of that $15 million the city is getting back, and no I do not work for Dell.

And after reading "No Name's" comment about this above, I have to admit I felt this all along!
Maybe...just maybe if we're lucky, DELL will take all the HISPANIC's back with them as well as all the GREEDY ASS BIG BUSINESS people that love & hire them too!

And what of the multi-millions the Easley administration put up? Pathetic elitists; have no grip on reality as in "real money" has gone bye-bye.

As long as governments pay companies millions to relocate, they'll keep doing exactly what Dell did. Bristol Compressor wept crocodile tears when they closed their Ashe County plant (I think it was Ashe), citing a lack of profits... then moved along to another sweetheart deal offered by a municipality in Tennessee. The problem, my friends, is that we all talk about buying American and saving American jobs... but we don't want to pay the difference. Patriotism flies out the window when it costs the public money. We all line up to buy Chinese junk at bargain prices... and whine when American companies close up or go overseas because the public won't buy their products. Wake up, dammit.

All Workers today needs to realize that there are no "Guarantees" that any job they get carries cradle to the grave rights and security. Look back at all the major companies and industries which have come and gone in our area the past twenty years. It all boils down to a simple dollar. That goes for the hot shot politicians and CEO's of Chamber of Commerce who makes the air headed decisions to entice companies here by using taxpayer money that cost everyone in the long run. They can be voted out of office or replaced because of wasteful spending, commitments and broken promises.

Are you implying that the Chamber of Commerce lady on the TV is an AIRHEAD?
She seemed to be sooooooooo intelligent...and care about everyone except herself. Kinda like another woman I seen on TV talking about this matter, LOL

If city leaders would repeat the mistake that donated $16 million in taxpayer money/corporate welfare to a private sector behemoth, that never met employment requirements and stayed in this area for only four years before following the out-sourcing trend to Mexico, then I believe we have the wrong people running Winston-Salem. Elections have consequences, folks!

Dell did a good service to winston salem. We are happy to have won the bid for them to setup here and we are still winners. The city has received lots in property taxes and people were hired here locally who contribute to our sales taxes and support of local businesses that it drew.
So we hope another big manufacturing name could come over to winton salem. The next could be Apple computers, Yahoo, or even Microsoft.
