The company used a cheap trick to get people in its stores, figuring once they're in the store and hungry, they'll buy something. It was a blatantly deceptive practice. They could tell how many people were downloading the coupon, so they knew what demand would be. If it was too much, they could have pulled it off their web site.
The company lied, it cost people time and money, its exactly the kind of situation a class action lawsuit can remedy. For all the complainers, if you like getting ripped off, then go be sheep. Personally, when a company wastes my time, I'm grateful for a lawyer who will teach them that my time is actually worth something.
You must have plenty of time on hand to waste it going to KFC for free chicken. Why not waste it doing something more constructive?

"KFC should have made more of an effort to accommodate people who had downloaded the coupons, the complaint said. Customers who missed out on the free meal spent money on travel, paper and printing to find out about the change, and then wasted more on postage for a mail-in rain check."

And you might add....And then some of those people (otherwise known as jerks) went on to file ridiculous law suits that unnecessarily helped clog up the courts.

The people who filed these suits should be sued by local taxpayers for helping waste their money and misallocate important judicial resources. How socially and fiscally irresponsible.

I think we have better problems for our courts to deal with than a KFC chicken dinner. Any judge that doesn't throw this one right out of court is an idiot, as are the complainants.

Special computer program ??

... The complaint said Asanuma, of Northridge, used a color printer and paper to print four coupons, which required him to download and install a special computer program....

Another field day and 30-40% of the potential damages for a few lawyers if there is a class-action suit !

This really isn;t worth the cost in court. It seems that we're looking at a chance for some easy cash. I, myself, would not feel vindictive. The next time I wanted a cooked meal I would check out KFC's grilled chicken and pay out of my own pocket. You don't have to be rich or need a hand out....

I say KFC should offer these two bozos $10 each, $5 for the chicken and $5 for the gas they may have used to get there. If they can prove they deserve more I'd love to see the proof.

I recall the two meals I had from KFC. I had a time getting them printed up. I was to get one only but two were printed up. Should I havew sued had they only given me one? I think not, but the result of my adventure at KFC was satisfactory. In fact I wrote to her and said.
"I drove to the KFC and went in. The gentleman, apparently a young high school kid behind the counter said,“Can I help you sir?”“Yes, you can,” I answered.“Oprah sent me down.”“Oprah sent you down? You know how many people Oprah sent down here so far?” He picked up a fistful of coupons stacked about two inches thick. There must have been at least fifty to seventy five coupons in his hand.“Well sir,” I answered.“I have two more for you.”“Two more?” he asked.“No, you only get one order per customer. How did you get two?”“Well that is what spit out of my printer, and the bar codes are two different numbers on them so I guess Oprah is being overly generous.”“The rules say you get one.” He said.“What about my wife? The other is for my wife.” I told him.“Hey, I don’t see anyone else behind you. I can’t give you another.”“Look, my wife has a cast on her right leg and I could not drag her out for this. Give me a break.” I told him. I was telling him the truth about that.“Sorry, can’t do it.”

At that point a person standing next to me waiting for his order said.“If he handed me the coupon and I gave it to you, being another person can you make up the order?”“Yes, I can do that.” The kid answered him. I gave the man the coupon and he turned it over to him. The kid made up the next order and I walked out with two meals. We enjoyed those KFC meals and, Thanks KFC, and Oprah, thank you so much."

Some people will sue at the drop of a hat. DROP YOUR HAT ON MY FOOT, I DARE YOU. iF YOU DO I WILL CALL MY LAWYER.

So KFC put a gun to your head, FORCED you to download the software, FORCED you to print out the coupons, FORCED you to go to their stores for the privilege of tricking you into buying chicken? Wow! KFC is powerful!

And as for your "time being worth something," I'll GIVE you the $10 it probably "cost" you if it will save the THOUSANDS of $$ in wasted court time this frivolous lawsuit is costing. I'll even WIRE it to you and add 100% interest and it will STILL cost less.

Yeah, KFC shoulda known better, but you had a choice. When will personal accountability come back???

KFC left a bad taste in my mouth.
I also attempted to use a coupon and went out of my way to a KFC only to find a sign on the window saying that they were not accepting the coupons. I am a regular at Popeyes. This coupon enticed me to sample KFC. All this promotion did was make me feel better about doing business with Popeye's.
This promotion really did feel like bait and switch. I hope all the people who were disappointed vow to never set foot in a KFC again.
Thank you John - NEVER GO BACK TO A KFC IF YOU THINK YOU WERE "RIPPED OFF"! F*ck the lawsuit!

Wonder what they spent driving to the attorney and printing up the forms required to file the law suit.

It was to introduce the new meal to the public./ If people had filled out a form at the store they would have been sent a new coupon!!!!!!
