No such thing as a free meal at 1 New York City KFC as Oprah co...

Customers at a New York City KFC hoping to redeem coupons for a free meal were disgruntled when the fast-food restaurant ran out of its new grilled chicken, but Internet rumors of a riot were unfounded, a Kentucky Fried Chicken spokeswoman said Wednesday. Full Story

Oprah has swallowed Jenny McCarthy's insane ranting about her little boy being "cured" of autism, much to the horror, anger and disgust of those of us who have autistic children or relatives and know that autism is not something that can be "cured", a position supported by all the legitimate science on the subject.

Oprah was disillusioned when she learned that an author who wrote a book about his descent into addiction and recovery fictionalized parts of his story, and reacted by destroying the career of the author and the sales of his book, which she had embraced just weeks beforehand.

Now, Oprah is promoting KFC, apparently unaware or unconcerned that KFC is responsible for the most horrific treatment of birds. The chickens raised for KFC are stuffed into cramped cages like sardines, where they become covered with fecal matter. Their beaks are cut off with no anesthetic in order to prevent the birds from pecking at each other in the inhumanely cramped conditions under which they must live their brief lives. They are pumped with pesticides to keep the flies off of the fesces which cover the floors of the cages in which these birds are stuffed while alive. They are pumped with antibiotics to prevent the infections which normally would spread like the swine flu in the cramped conditions these birds are forced to endure.

I once had a rooster for a pet. He was intelligent enough to recognize the sound of my mother rattling a box of Product 19, knowing that a treat was coming. He was patient with me as a 5 year old boy, when I would occasionally pluck a feather, not knowing better. He played gently with me and never bit my finger when I would touch the tip of his beak. He would never have tolerated such behavior from an adult, but he was intelligent enough to recognize a child and understand the difference. How can anyone tolerate the cruel treatment of such sensitive, intelligent creatures?

Oprah is once again on the wrong side of the issue. I guess it just proves that discernment is not a prerequisite for joining the ranks of media billionaires.

Just like nationalized healthcare, if you give something away that is valued, it will have to be rationed.
It's rationed now, "dood". If you are poor, you have a much harder time getting health care, and are far more likely to die because you are denied life-saving care by a bean-counter who does not care whether you live or die and simply cares about the size of his bonus, which will be bigger the more claims he denies. I'm amused and amazed at how dupes who have been brainwashed by right-wing bumper-sticker talking-points will trust an amoral insurance company to control their access to health care over a government of, by and for the people.

I went to download the coupon and was asked to run an .exe file called a coupon loader. I'm sure this file is a tracker of some sort. Needless to say I did not download the file for the freebie. It suddenly didn't seem so free. I tried to email Oprah about it but couldn't make a comment on her website.
Did anyone else notice the file download?
the file is aq program that allows you to print off online coupons. in the past, retailers never accepted such coupons due to the abuse (people photocopying them or printing of dozens). this programs apparently allows you to print off only a limited number of unique coupons. many stores accept coupons printed w/ this program and if you want to print off online coupons, it's a necessary evil. I can understand people being hesitant, but the program seems fully legit and I've printed off several coupons from many manufacturers' and vendor sites

You had to go ruin a perfectly sane conversation about Oprah giving away free chicken.

This woman works for the Associated Press and doesn't know basic grammar?

"It even has it's own secret recipe..."

"IT'S"???

I mean, it's a small and petty thing to call out, but in my opinion, that's not the case when the mistake is made by one who works for the AP.

What's wrong with the "it's"? The "it's" is a possessive "it", not a contraction of "it is".

Somebody named George never learned proper English. it's is the contraction for it is.
its is the possessive form of it. That's the grammar rule that's been in place long before any of us was born. Yes, any of us was -- any is singular.

Ownership of it is spelled its not it's, which is a contraction for it is.

I find it so ironic that Oprah would promote a fast food chain like KFC. First of all, it is beyond unhealthy - replete with excess fat, sodium and additives that our body should do without. Wasn't she the same person who promoted various books on dieting and exercise, yet she still balloons in weight. So, rather than than deal with it and get on a rigorous exercise plan and change it diet, she spins everything into a "oh poor me...I keeping fat..." episode.

Secondly, not to be stereotypical, but did you have to promote a fried chicken place? But I digress.

Bottom line is that America needs to wake up and realize that this woman is not an expert on relationships, health or psychotherapy. It's all propaganda and pure BS so that you can all continue to make her rich.

Think about it - Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray, her bogus books. These people are fakes. Dr. Phil is a quack and has a show sightly about Maury Povich and Rachel Ray isn't even a chef. But Oprah disregards this and knows how to capitalize on selling them to the public. She's like the Vince McMahon of talk show hosts and is able to seek out who will be popular, market him/her like crazy and just get richer from people who lack critical thinking skills.

People need to really wake up and more importantly smarten up. If this woman were as committed to changing her life for the better - then we would see it. But guess what - we don't! Why? Because she doesn't believe in any of that is just like her audience and doesn't follow through and instead is seeking for a quick fix.

It's time to knock her off her fat throne.
