This could be substantial. I'd definitely use this as my flight of choice out of Farmington to virtually anywhere.

So Farmington, with 45,000 people, can't get a semi-useful airport, but Durang with 10,000 people gets a new connection to a big hub. What's wrong with this picture? Durango and La Plata county have better management, that's what. Smaller tax base better services. How long are the Citizens of Farmington and San Juan County going to continue to take it?

The City of Farmington spens $50,000 on a new sign, gets Rod Hunt a new I-Pad for $900, yet can't figure out how to get the airport running. The reason they can't is because no matter how much lipstick they put on that pig it ain't gonna fly. And they have the most incompetent idiots applying the lipstick.

I see your point. I didn't mean instead of FMN; I don't consider FMN a viable airport.

I live in FMN and do not use FMN. I fly out of DRO and usually to Denver which os awful for reliability. DFW it is!!!!

People want to go to Durango instead of Farmington? I don't really see any "news" here. Been that way for a long time.

What do people expect ? They hired an airport manager in FMN that is simply a figure head to fill the position, never had any expericence in manageing the actual revenue operations of an airport (he was a facilities and grounds manager) and has ZERO interest in being in Farmington and spends all his time driving back to ABQ on the weekends to keep his wife happy.

We welcome American Eagle and their service to DFW aboard the jungle jet. I would bet United Airlines service to Houston wouldn't be too far behind this....

Didnt farmington REJECT having the regional airport on crouch mesa years ago?

Maybe this is why farmington has sucky service--they said NO in the distant past and dont understand that once the feds decide to send the money to someone else, airlines follow because they get corporate welfare. Thanks republicans.

Too funny.
A few people here wanted us to build an Intercontinental Airport on Crouch Mesa, not a regional airport. The same caliber of people that talked us into building a White Elephant Racetrack for the elite horse people around here that cost the taxpayer's millions of dollars for years.
Face it, Farmington is what it is, and can't be what a few people would like it to be.

This is good news for travelers, bad news for Farmington. We've gone from fairly splendid air service (the old Frontier, Mesa when it was just getting started) to virtually no air service worth mentioning. We used to have thinkers and visionaries in charge; now all we have are politicians and their toadies who can't plan beyond their next meal.

It is true, many years ago there was a proposal to move the airport to crouch mesa where the VOR sits to this day. It could have accomodated expansion of runways that the current airport cannot. Today's large commercial aircraft need more runway than KFMN has now. Its over San Juan County, you will have to drive to KDRO from now on if you want good service. And to the city leaders, please do not spend anymore money, except for upkeep, on the airport.
